‘Y: Marshals’ Trailer: Kayce Dutton Leaves Yellowstone Behind & Tries “To Find A New Beginning,” But One Major Character Is Missing

CBS has released the extended trailer for Taylor Sheridan‘s new Yellowstone spinoff Y: Marshals. It opens with a despairing Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) lamenting his losses.
“I fought every day to get out of the weight of Yellowstone,” Grimes’ Kayce says. “I’ve lost my teammates, my parents, even my brothers,” he continues as he places his hand on a tombstone. “I know that sometimes good men have to do bad things. But I’m trying to find a new beginning.”
There has been much speculation about the state of Kayce’s wife Monica, played by Kelsey Asbille in Yellowstone. Her complete absence in the trailer further fuels that speculation, leaving us with obvious questions — is she dead? Did they separate? We’ll have to stay tuned.
Per the logline: “With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana. Kayce and his teammates – Pete Calvin (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle Skinner (Arielle Kebbel), Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos) and Miles Kittle (Tatanka Means) – must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Kayce includes his son Tate (Brecken Merrill) and his confidantes Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) from the Broken Rock reservation.”
Y: Marshals premieres March 1 on CBS and Paramount+.
The series is produced by Paramount TV Studios, with Sheridan executive producing along with David C. Glasser for 101 Studios as well as Hudnut, who serves as showrunner, Grimes, Yaitanes, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman and Keith Cox. Y: Marshals will be distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
