Dax Shepard Jokes Kristen Bell Made Too Much For Him To Hang Lights

Dax Shepard opened up about his holiday decorating plans, joking that wife Kristen Bell’s success has changed how they do things.
During a joint appearance on the Tuesday, November 25, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Shepard, 50, was asked by Jimmy Kimmel, 58, if he and Bell, 45, had already put up their Christmas lights.
“That is true,” the “Armchair Expert” podcast host confirmed before Kimmel asked whether the couple string lights up themselves.
“I did,” Shepard said. “And then my wife made too much money and now I don’t.”
Shepard’s remark, which nodded to the success of Bell’s Netflix comedy series Nobody Wants This, of which she stars in and executive produces, drew laughter from Bell before Shepard couldn’t help cracking up, too. (Nobody Wants This was renewed for a third season on November 4.)
The Parenthood alum, who shares two daughters, Lincoln, born in 2013, and Delta, born in 2014, with Bell, has publicly thrown his support behind his wife in the past. In July, when Bell was nominated for an Emmy thanks to her season 1 performance as fictional podcaster Joanne in Nobody Wants This, Shepard cheekily praised her achievement via social media.
Sharing an Instagram photo of Bell doing a handstand without any clothes on (albeit bright-colored socks), Shepard captioned the post, “People might not know everything that happens behind the scenes in order to create an Emmy nominated performance like Kristen’s. This may or may not have been a part of her training, but it felt right. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!”
Just because Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are two of the funniest people in Hollywood doesn’t mean they don’t endure the same relationship struggles as any other couple. The Veronica Mars alum and Parenthood actor — who tied the knot in October 2013 and share two daughters, Delta and Lincoln — have been open and […]
The pair have long celebrated one another via their individual Instagram accounts, however not all posts from the couple have been met with praise. A polarizing anniversary post shared by Bell in October divided fans due to a caption penned by Bell that read, “Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would,❤️.”
While some followers commented on the post’s heartfelt intentions, others criticized the message. “What a wild thing to post during Domestic Violence Awareness month,” one follower wrote in the comments section at the time.
The controversy led to Bell briefly limiting comments on her social media activity, however she restored the functionality before long.

Bell and Shepard’s talk show appearance also revealed that they will spend the holiday season at a house they own in Nashville. “We’re going to spend Christmas there and Thanksgiving,” Shepard told Kimmel before revealing how the family turned the property into a “winter wonderland” by recruiting the help of a close friend who fell off the roof while helping the couple fulfill their decorating dream.
“Our contractor was there and photographed the whole thing,” Shepard said. “So we have great photos. We’ll think of it this Christmas as we’re enjoying the lights. He went way over the top … he was there for days just chucking [lights] all over the property. It would take him two weeks to take them down.”
Added Bell, “The house looks like it’s on colorful fire. It’s so bright.”
