Apple’s first OLED iPad mini likely to use displays from Samsung

It has been rumored for some time now that Apple is going to launch its first iPad mini with an OLED display next year. This would be quite a significant change for one of the company’s most attainable tablets.
Samsung Display will likely be in the running to provide the OLED panels required, and a new report claims just that.
Samsung’s set to capitalize on Apple’s increased OLED demand
Reports out of South Korea suggest that Samsung will supply up to three million OLED panels for the new iPad mini. The company will reportedly mass produce the 8.4-inch OLED panel for this tablet from July 2026.
It was first reported as far back as 2023 that the iPad mini would be upgraded with an OLED display in 2026. It appears that the plans are right on track with Apple expected to finally make this change in the coming year.
It’s also claimed that Samsung Display will be the only supplier of OLED panels for this device. It won’t be surprising, as Samsung Display is one of the very few companies that can provide top quality OLED panels at the scale Apple requires.
Apple is expected to bring OLED to some of its other products as well, with Samsung likely benefitting from the change. Other reports have claimed that Apple is also on track to launch its first MacBook Pro with an OLED panel in 2026.
Samsung Display is expected to supply the OLED panels for this device which would certainly deliver a significant boost to its OLED panels shipments for the year, as the MacBook computers tend to sell quite well in key markets across the globe.
