The 65-year-old was jailed in 2001 over Crimewatch presenter Jill’s death before his conviction was quashed in 2007 by the Court of Appeal.

George was cleared by a jury the following year with the 1999 murder still unsolved.

He appeared at the Old Bailey today charged with one count of rape and two of indecent assault.

The alleged incidents reportedly took place in West London between September 6 and 12, 1987.
