Iconic LEGO kits at can’t-miss prices – why I treat myself every Black Friday (and which deal I couldn’t ignore this year)

LEGO is the perfect way to immortalise a piece of your favourite film. It’s as fun to build as it is to look at, with infinite replay value, and (in my case at least) the kind of demonstrable stress-relieving quality only a task that requires immense focus can provide. That’s why my house is full of it.

It’s not without its downsides though. Not least the mental (and sometimes physical) challenge of building some of these larger sets, but the substantial budget you’ll need to recreate, let’s say, the Dark Lord Sauron’s fortress in plastic brick.

Cut to the chase, what are the best LEGO deals this Black Friday?

These faithfully rendered vehicles and buildings fit into a home cinema room, office, or bedroom shelf, and also make the perfect present for the movie nerd in your life (particularly if you’re buying for yourself).

That’s why Black Friday, with its myriad discounts, is the perfect time to hunt down that silver-screen themed kit you’ve had your eye on all year. We’ve rounded up our favourite film-themed LEGO kits and console games with money off right now, and some of them are soon to be retired, so you better move fast.

And if you want the joy of assembling film-themed LEGO without the associated tidying up, there are videos games for every console that bring brick to life, full of fun gags and Easter eggs to keep even the most hardcore film-fiends happy.

The best film-themed LEGO kits

Researched and recommended: you’re gonna need a bigger boat (to ship all these 25%-off LEGO sets)

Price: £97.50 (was £130)

A supremely-detailed set that brings all the tension and terror of this pivotal Jaws scene to life – a choppy sea, a massive shark, and a strained fishing boat motor combined. Bruce comes with his own stand for displaying separately, or you can position him within transom-snapping distance behind the Orca boat.

Researched and recommended: this is the deal you’re looking for, 34% off

Some things look better in LEGO than others, it’s fair to say, and R2-D2 is absolutely one of the former. Detailed and proportioned to perfection, this faithful replica comes with the astromech droid’s periscope and tools. All that’s missing is a series of sassy beeps and boops.

Researched and recommended: money-no-object build, now £210 off

Lego

Under normal running conditions it’s nearly impossible to spend more on LEGO than the Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon kit. It’s so expensive that it can absorb a £210 discount, and still be a quite significant purchase. Still, if your love of Star Wars and LEGO runs deep enough, there can be no greater aspiration than this incredibly detailed and challenging build.

Researched and recommended: the lowest price I’ve ever seen at 36% off

Rrp: £69.99

Price: £44.99

Every Black Friday I treat myself to some discounted LEGO, and this year it’s this stunning Ayrton Senna McLaren MP4/4 – arguably the greatest racing car and driver ever. Why? For a start it’ll fit in well alongside my 2023 and 2025 Lego Speed Champion McLaren Formula 1 cars, but it’s also a stunning looking model, and at £44.99, the cheapest I’ve ever seen it (a total bargain).

Fate transpired to cap Senna’s World Driver’s Championship total at three – and his story and raw racing talent have featured in the breath-taking, BAFTA winning 2010 documentary Senna, and more recently a limited series on Netflix in 2024. Both of which are compulsory viewing if you want a peek at the inner workings of super-human focus and determination, whether you’re a fan of the sport or not.

2 Fast, 3 NOS bottles, 6 cylinders – one absolutely epic brick celebration of the best car in the Fast and Furious franchise. A drift function lifts the rear wheels so you can skid across the kitchen tiles just like in the film. It’s mighty tempting now it’s under £100 – and you can use the money you save to buy the smaller (and also discounted) Speed Champions version too.

If your budget (and indeed shelf space) doesn’t stretch to the full-size Millennium Falcon, there’s an alternative inspired by the Disney+ special Rebuild the Galaxy. Putting all of that to one side for a moment, the red and black liveried, villain-era Dark Falcon is a fantastic version of the Corellian freighter in its own right.

It’s hard to imagine a more terrifying LEGO build than this one, from the flaming eye of Sauron down to the Orc-filled dungeons. It’s also massive – nearly a metre tall, illuminated, and the perfect counter-piece to the Rivendell kit above. Looks like LEGO’s back on the menu.

Your chance to do a better job of finishing a Threepio build than Anakin managed – this faithfully recreated scale model will take up little space on your shelf while simultaneously demanding attention. With a planned X-Men MCU reboot around the corner, there’s plenty of time to catch up on the 1997 cartoon. Classic yellow and blue Wolverine, one of the best theme tunes of all time, and the superb SR-71 Blackbird inspired X-Jet, it made Saturday mornings in front of the TV a great time to be alive. Relive it now with this soon-to-be-retired set.

Granted, there’s a big imbalance between firepower (lots) and screentime (hardly any), but the iconic shape of the TIE Bomber means it deserves a spot on your shelf. Particularly if you plan on teaming it with a Millennium Falcon. Plus, you get Darth Vader, a bomber pilot, Vice Admiral Sloane and a Gonk Droid.

When is Black Friday 2025?

Black Friday 2025 is on 28 November. However, the sale is no longer a single day or even weekend. Sale items have already begun appearing and discounts are expected to continue into December.

How to find the best Black Friday deals

Set Deal Alerts: Subscribe to retailers’ newsletters and enable notifications in shopping apps to get early access to limited-time offers.

Make a Wish List: Add your must-haves to your online wish list. Many retailers notify you if wish list items go on sale.

Use Price Trackers: Tools like CamelCamelCamel and Keepa can reveal a product’s price history to check if you’re truly getting a genuine Black Friday deal.
