Michelle Heaton’s Halloumi Burger Disaster on Celebrity MasterChef

Pop star Michelle Heaton faced a culinary challenge on the latest episode of Celebrity MasterChef, leaving her feeling “absolutely gutted” after a significant mishap in the kitchen. The Liberty X singer, competing alongside notable personalities such as Love Island’s Chris Hughes, author Dawn O’Porter, soul icon Jaki Graham, and actor Jamie Lomas, was preparing a halloumi burger accompanied by sweet chili jam and sweet potato fries.
The excitement turned to despair when Michelle discovered that her sweet potatoes had burned after being left in the oven for too long. The moment she pulled out the charred fries, she gasped, disbelief washing over her as she held her head in her hands. “Oh, no!” Michelle exclaimed, reflecting on the blunder. “I actually can’t believe it. Burned my sweet potato fries.”
In a generous display of camaraderie, her fellow competitor, Dawn O’Porter, offered to share her additional 10 minutes of cooking time, which she earned after winning an earlier taste challenge. However, judge Grace Dent promptly declined the offer, stating, “I am sorry, but you can’t.”
Despite the setback, Michelle showcased her resilience by quickly adapting her dish. She prepared small sweet potato cubes as a replacement, admitting that she could only “hope for the best” during the judging. “I am absolutely gutted,” she confessed, acknowledging the gravity of her earlier mistake.

When it came time for the judges to sample her dish, John Torode remarked on her previous mishaps while praising her determination. “You had a bit of a disaster,” he noted, to which she sheepishly replied, “I had a massive one.” However, he admired her ability to rebound, emphasizing that such resilience is the essence of MasterChef.
In a surprising turn of events, the judges offered Michelle some positive feedback. John complimented the way her halloumi was “cooked really nicely,” though he found her brioche bun to be “on the edge of too sweet.” Reflecting on her experience, Michelle expressed a mix of emotions. “I am feeling OK considering I had a massive disaster,” she stated. “I was about to cry, but I didn’t, because I usually do. And I just ploughed on. And I’m really, really happy that I did, because I learned something about myself.”
Celebrity MasterChef continues to air on BBC One, showcasing the highs and lows of its celebrity contestants as they navigate the demanding world of cooking.
