That iPhones have been just as fast in recent years? We’ll convince you otherwise!

YouTube channel PhoneBuff has released a new comparison video that shows in a fun way how the performance of iPhones changes every year. This is not a laboratory test. Robotic arms were used that perform a specific action at the same time. Everything is embedded in the video located below the paragraph, in which you can clearly see how the individual models are doing. In this test, six models of the Pro series were pitted against each other Max – from iPhone 12 to current iPhone 17. PhoneBuff is presenting its most extensive test to date, which includes a wide range of tasks, from taking photos and processing them, to loading demanding applications and games, to video editing and image editing.

This procedure allows us to clearly see how performance has changed across generations and how seemingly small year-to-year differences can add up to a noticeable shift. Interestingly, older models performed surprisingly well in some parts of the test. iPhone 13 Pro Max for example, it kept up with newer devices in several stress scenarios. However, it is not surprising that iPhone 17 Pro Max sononec completed the entire round with a significant lead and took first place. While such tests may not appeal to everyone, PhoneBuff brings a very visually engaging way to interpret performance differences. This is how we think such tests should look. If you’re interested in how much the individual generations of iPhones really differ in practice, the video is worth watching.
