The Golden State Warriors get a rematch of last year’s first-round playoff series with Wednesday night’s matchup against the Houston Rockets. The game will be played at 7:00 PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on ESPN and NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State beat the Utah Jazz on Monday night, 134–117. Following a sloppy start to the game, head coach Steve Kerr got after his team during an animated timeout which sparked a 21–0 run to open the second quarter. The Warriors took full control from there as Steph Curry led the team with 31 points in 29 minutes alongside Jimmy Butler’s 18 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.
What to watch for tonight:
Tonight’s matchup marks the final game of NBA Cup Group Play for the Warriors. Golden State sits in last place in West Group C with a 1–2 record and will need several results to break their way in order to advance to the knockout stage.

Although the Warriors don’t control their own destiny for the NBA Cup, they still need to handle business against the Rockets at home. Houston has been one of the league’s top teams, powered by an offense that ranks first in offensive rating (122.5). A major factor has been the offseason addition of Kevin Durant, who leads the Rockets with 24.6 points per game. However, Durant will not play on Wednesday at the Chase Center as he attends to a family matter.
Aside from Durant, both teams will be without key players. Jonathan Kuminga and Al Horford remain out for the Warriors, while Steven Adams, Tari Eason, and Dorian Finney-Smith are all sidelined for the Rockets. Draymond Green is expected to return after missing one game.
