Jack’s Daily: Foligno Face-off; Frondell Drops Down Lineup; Predators Problems

While there was only one game on the NHL schedule on Tuesday, 30 of the league’s 32 clubs will be in action on Thanksgiving Eve. The Chicago Blackhawks play their second game of a four-game homestand to close out November, where they face the red-hot Minnesota Wild for the first time this season. Minnesota has rattled off five consecutive wins and has a point in eight straight games entering the United Center on Wednesday.

Chicago Hockey Now: The Blackhawks have been dealing with injury issues in their forward group in recent weeks. Nick Foligno is on injured reserve, Tyler Bertuzzi recently missed two games, and Andre Burakovsky is currently out with an undisclosed injury. Chicago Sun-Times: Another player who’s been skating recently at Fifth Third Arena in Chicago is goaltender Laurent Brossoit. Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times chatted with the 32-year-old goaltender about the Blackhawks’ depth in between the pipes, along with his slew of injuries since signing a two-year contract.

While Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno won’t be able to play against his younger brother, Marcus, on Wednesday, the two are teaming up to raise funds for a personal cause. Nick and Marcus lost their mother, Janis, to breast cancer in 2009, and they are raising money for breast cancer research with the Foligno Face-Off. In partnership with the NHL, NHLPA, and V Foundation for Cancer Research, a season-long platform has been created to raise funds for the cause.

In prospect news, 2025 top draft choice Anton Frondell was bumped down in Djurgarden’s lineup on Tuesday, as he skated as the 13th forward. Despite having 13 points (8G, 5A) in 22 SHL games as an 18-year-old, the Swedish club has strangely utilized one of its best players this season. Frondell is fourth on the team in points. Sportsnet: There have been trade rumors involving Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson since before training camp began back in September. Now, Andersson says he’s open to everything, claiming “if it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.”

BR Open Ice: According to Frank Seravalli, the Nashville Predators have the most toxic environment of any NHL team from top to bottom. The Predators currently sit in last place in the Western Conference with only 16 points through 22 games. Head coach Barry Trotz refuted the report, but the proof is in the pudding. Nashville comes to Chicago for a Friday-night matchup later this week.

NHL.com: Jamie Benn scored his 400th career NHL goal in the Dallas Stars’ 8-3 beatdown over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday. Defense and goaltending remain massive problems for the two-time Western Conference champions.
