Millie Bobby Brown Not Leaving Netflix After Stranger Things Season 5: This Franchise Needs a Theatrical Release
The first part of Stranger Things Season 5 is here now, and a second part will be released at the end of next month. But Millie Bobby Brown is already set to appear in her next big project for Netflix. Her successful movie series, Enola Holmes, has a third movie coming out. The filming is completed, and Enola Holmes 3 is set for a 2026 release on Netflix. But there’s a problem!
After Brown’s Stranger Things finale hits theaters on December 31, fans will find it weird to see her hit movie debut on Netflix instead of the big screen. Limited theatrical screenings of the final episode of Brown’s show were announced earlier (via Tudum). It will be screened in more than 350 theaters in the U.S. and Canada for two days.
Creators Matt and Ross Duffer were excited about the theatrical release aspect, sharing, “Getting to see it on the big screen, with incredible sound, picture, and a room full of fans, feels like the perfect — dare we say bitchin’ — way to celebrate the end of this adventure.” Fans would want exactly that, incredible sound and picture, for Enola Holmes 3.
Now, for the Stranger Things finale, it will be a complete fan event with celebrations and accessories. However, Enola Holmes fans would love to see the film run for an extended period of time in theaters. There’s another major reason for fans to demand a theatrical release for this mystery movie.
Enola Holmes 3 Cast Deserves a Big-Screen Debut
Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola takes on a new case in the new movie, this time taking place on the island nation of Malta. The film not only tackles her private detective stint, but also her relationship with Louis Partridge’s Tewkesbury.

Also returning to the cast is Henry Cavill, who will play the famous Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock is Enola’s brother and will be accompanied by Dr. Watson, played by Himesh Patel in this movie. Helena Bonham Carter will reprise the role of Eudoria Holmes, Enola and Sherlock’s mother.
Sharon Duncan-Brewster, who played Moriarty in Enola Holmes 2, also returns to the new movie. Other cast members of the movie are currently kept under wraps. Brown and Cavill are big enough names for the movie to warrant a theatrical release.

Adolescence director Philip Barantini takes over the helm from Harry Bradbeer, while the creator of the psychological drama, Jack Thorne, writes the script for this new movie. The movie is adapting another story from Nancy Springer’s The Enola Holmes Mysteries. Brown serves as a producer, while her husband, Jake Bongiovi, serves as an executive producer.
Millie Bobby Brown’s Enola Holmes 3 Takes a Darker Turn

Enola Holmes 3’s new direction was already hinted at by the behind-the-scenes changes. Philip Barantini’s experience on Adolescence suggested that he wasn’t going to make a light movie like its predecessors. When CinemaBlend asked the director about the upcoming movie, he shared the vision that he had shared with the movie team.
Barantini confirmed that he would take “a slightly darker, slightly more grown-up” direction with the new movie. He further explained that he wanted to bring Brown and Enola’s age as a factor into the movie. He shared:
Because, you know, Enola’s grown up, she’s now 21, Millie’s 21. So she’s no longer a kid, really. She’s an adult, and so I wanted to reflect that in the style and the tone of the movie. So, I think we’ve achieved that. And it’s great. It’s great. It’s like a new chapter, essentially.
The change is promising, which makes it another reason why fans would want to catch this film in the theaters. Fans hope Netflix will hear them out and set a theatrical release date for the movie before a streaming release date.
