It looks as though many Good Morning Britain viewers were left less than impressed during Thursday’s show. This comes after the ITV show announced some devastating breaking news this week.

ITV presenters Ed Balls and Susanna Reid were at the forefront of the programme as they spoke to Chancellor Rachel Reeves following her Autumn budget.

The Chancellor appeared via videolink live from Coventry as she spoke to the two hosts about what was announced in the House of Commons on Wednesday afternoon.

However, it wasn’t long before people watching took to X to share their thoughts on the interview, with many not happy that Ed was speaking to the Labour MP.

One person commented: “Ed Balls should not be on #gmb too close to Labour and his previous role with them. #ofcom this is unacceptable.”

Someone else wrote: “I like Ed Balls, but he literally just said to Rachel Reeves, great Budget, just shame it was leaked. If that’s not biased broadcasting, I’m not sure what is!”

Another viewer shared: “#GMB Ed Balls should not be interviewing his wife’s colleague, who she sat next to on the front bench yesterday; he is an ex-Labour Chancellor and is pro-Reeves agenda. He’s biased.”

One person added: “#gmb Balls should not be interviewing his wife’s colleagues.” While another said: “#GMB BALLS making it easier for Rachel in accounts”

This follows Ed coming under fire last year for speaking to his wife, Yvette Cooper, who was Home Secretary at the time.

As a result, over 16,000 complaints were received from Ofcom, which were on two controversial interviews in the same episode, one with Ed and his wife, the other on the questioning of Coventry South MP Zarah Sultana.

However, despite the large number of complaints, the regulator decided not to investigate. ITV issued a statement at the time, believing the interview was ‘fair and impartial’.

Dame Carolyn McCall, Chief Executive of ITV, commented: “Would we do it again? No. Was it impartial, fair and balanced? And did they behave professionally? Yes.

“I mean, he asked her a few questions, but I think Kate was leading on that, wasn’t she? And so I do think you’ve just got to say, if Ofcom have looked at it and they’re not pursuing this any further because they thought it was fair, balanced and impartial, you know, that’s it.”
