WHEN IS BLACK FRIDAY?

This year, Black Friday will be held on November 28, which is followed directly by Cyber Monday on December 1 – bringing you a whole weekend of mouth-watering deals and discounts.

We will be bringing you lots of early deals and bargains in the lead up to this sales period too.

WHAT IS BLACK FRIDAY?

Black Friday is a shopping event that started in the US, but has steadily grown the become the biggest sale on the Australian calendar. Nearly every major retailer takes part in the event, making it a great time to grab a bargain on everything from tech gadgets to beauty products.

Many shoppers use it as an opportunity to bag Christmas presents at bargain prices, while others take advantage of the tech and appliance deals to snag high-ticket items like TVs, laptops, washing machines and fridges.

With the cost of living skyrocketing, the sales could also present a great opportunity to stock up on essentials at reduced prices.

SHOULD I BUY A PHONE ON BLACK FRIDAY?

Black Friday usually sees top phone models slashed by hundreds of dollars, making it a great time to buy if you’re in the market for an upgrade. We also see big offers from telco providers over the course of the sales, which means those shopping on a plan can also get a great deal.

The one caveat is that recent phone models aren’t always included in the sales, with the biggest discounts usually placed on slightly older models.

WHERE TO SHOP THE BEST BLACK FRIDAY PHONE DEALS

Based on previous sales, Amazon Australia should be a top spot to shop for phone deals this Black Friday. Last year, the online retailer had some huge offers on Samsung Galaxy and fordable phones, along with offers on older phone models we didn’t see on sale elsewhere.

It was also one of the only retailers to slash prices on a range of Apple iPhones.

We should also see Vodafone, which have some great discounts for those who want to buy on a plan. Vodafone had the most extensive deal offerings last year, though we saw some similar discounts across all three stores.

Those after a Samsung phone can also head directly to the Samsung store, where we saw some exclusive offers last November.

Those after an iPhone deal will have a harder time finding a bargain, given Apple’s reputation for not discounting its products. However, we did see Amazon Australia slash the price of certain iPhone models last year, so it could be worth keeping an eye on the sites’ dedicated Apple store.

Other top retailers to check for phone deals this Black Friday include The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi.
