A very unsettled end to the week is ahead for Dublin’s weather with all signs pointing to more wind and rain next week.
Make sure to wear the lined raincoat if you’re heading out today because not only will there be some rain – there’s a chance of hail too. While temperatures will hit up to 10C, it’s going to feel even colder than that due to plenty of wind.
As for the night time, those temperatures will drop as low as 2C, and even lower in some local spots. There’s a chance of frost and plenty of cloud will move in from the west.
Met Eireann said: “Windy with showers, some heavy at times with a chance of hail. Brighter spells developing later with highs of 8 to 10 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty southwest winds.
“Tonight will be mostly clear with just isolated showers. Cold too with lows of 2 to 5 degrees, and possibly dropping lower locally with a chance of frost. Cloud will build from the west later overnight into the morning. Light or variable winds.”
If you’ve got outdoor plans for Saturday you may want to change them as it’s going to be a pretty mixed day. We’ll start with showers and they have a chance of turning heavy with hail or thunder.
Temperatures will hit around 8C during the day but turn bitterly cold during the night. They’ll drop to around -2C and there’s plenty of frost or ice expected too.
Met Eireann continued: “Saturday will start off cloudy with scattered showers, some turning heavy at times with the chance of hail or thunder. Clearer spells will develop in the evening with daytime highs of just 6 to 8 degrees in light to moderate north to northwest winds.
“A cold night with scattered showers in parts of the north and west early but staying mostly dry and clear elsewhere. Lowest overnight temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees, with frost and icy patches possible, in light westerly or variable winds.”
Finishing off the weekend, sunshine will turn to rain as temperatures remain low. There will be more of that as we head into the week with unsettled conditions moving in from the Atlantic.
Here’s the week’s forecast:
Sunday
Cold and frosty to start with some winter sunshine in the morning. Cloud will build from the west early and gradually spread eastwards with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Highs of 4 to 8 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds.
Early on in the night will start off cloudy and wet as that rain continues to clear eastwards. A clearance will follow in behind, with cloudy conditions lingering in the north and south. Scattered showers will mainly affect southern counties overnight, before merging into longer spells of rain towards morning and spreading northward. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees, coldest under clear skies in light to moderate southerly winds.
Monday
Wet and cloudy to start with outbreaks of rain and drizzle clearing eastwards early on. Showers will follow in behind, some heavy at times. Brighter spells at times too, the best of which will be in the southeast. Highs of 8 to 12 degrees in light to moderate southerly winds, which will veer westerly and strengthen fresh to strong at times near southern coasts.
Tuesday
Cloudy for most with showery outbreaks of rain. There will be brighter breaks throughout the day in between any showers. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in moderate southwesterly winds, strong to near gale force at times on Atlantic and eastern coasts.
Rest of week
Remaining unsettled with low pressure systems from the Atlantic driving our weather patterns.
