However, its been long enough that you shouldn’t have issues with most peripherals, especially ones that worked fine with the older Switch.

I know it’s tempting just to grab a new headset, especially when you spot that bright read “Black Friday Deal” tab on Amazon. But before you get trigger happy, try testing out your older headsets, controllers and other accessories first. As the resident headset nerd of the team, I’ve tested a lot of wireless headsets for the Switch 2. Out of the lot, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3X Wireless is my favorite, and the white model is down to a record-low price of $89.99 at Amazon today.

This lightweight headset is equipped with mighty 40mm Neodymium audio drivers, Bluetooth and 2.4GHz, and one of the best mics I’ve tested in a pair so far. Its battery is a little disappointing, but it’s fortunately also equipped with fast charging, which helps make up for its lackluster playback. With fast charging, I can get up to 9 hours of juice from just a 15-minute charge, which is why it secured its place among my favorite Switch 2 accessories.

PSA – Don’t forget the Nintendo Switch 2 is backwards compatible

As alluring as all the current Nintendo Switch 2 game deals are this week, you don’t have to buy them all up if you already have a large existing Switch game library. Most Switch games, digital and physical, work fine on the new handheld (with some exceptions), so you can keep playing through your older backlog without breaking the bank.

Of course, I won’t stop you from going after some wonderful new Switch 2 experiences. Donkey Kong Bananza is one of my favorite Nintendo games in a long time, and it’s exclusive to the new device. If you want to play it, you should definitely pick it up right now, as I wouldn’t want you to miss out on DK’s latest adventure.

I know a screen protector is a really boring purchase for any handheld, whether it’s the Switch 2 or the Steam Deck, but trust me that it can make a huge difference. Before it, I noticed tiny abrasions to the 7.9-inch LCD display, and I was in a panic as my Switch 2 was so new. I recently reviewed the JSAUX EnergyFlow Charging Dock for the Nintendo Switch 2 and quite liked the RGB-lit up contraption, even if I couldn’t use it to its fullest potential. This little device can charge up to four Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers at once, and acts as a handy stand when you don’t know where to stash your extra pair.

If you only have one set of Joy-Con, I wouldn’t recommend it. You can just charge your controllers by attaching them to your Ninty handhelds when it’s docked. Nintendo has dropped the price of its Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom amiibo down to just $9.99 for Black Friday, and I feel like everyone needs to know.

I adore the little NFC-integrated collectibles, especially the Zelda amiibo. Until this new wave launched alongside the Switch 2, I owned every single Zelda figure in the series, but it should be straightforward to collect the three I’m missing now that they’re just $9.99 this week.

If you’re after some older Nintendo Switch games but want the reassurance they’ll actually run better on the Switch 2, then may I direct your attention to the Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom.

This charming game features the same graphical stylings of the Links Awakening Remake, but features Princess Zelda on her first solo adventure (if you don’t count the CD-i game). I absolutely adored my time with Echoes of Wisdom, but there were some noticeable performance issues. Which is why I’m happy to say that it’s not just down to $39.99 at Best Buy today, but it also has a free Switch 2 upgrade, which introduces HDR support and optimized visuals for the new handheld.
