Vice President Vance, Kid Rock visit Fort Campbell soldiers for Thanksgiving celebration

Vice President JD Vance visited Fort Campbell soldiers Wednesday ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday alongside special guest Kid Rock.

Vance started his speech by addressing the shooting near the White House on Wednesday where two National Guard troopers were injured with their condition remaining unclear.

“It’s a somber reminder that soldiers, whether they’re active duty, reserve or national guard, are the sword and the shield of the United States of America,” Vance said.

Vance continued to deliver remarks, saying the 101st Airborne Division is one of the units in the U.S. army he is most proud of. Fort Campbell, Ky., is home to the 101st Airborne Division, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, 5th Special Forces Group, and other Army units.

Singer Kid Rock also made an appearance and introduced Vance by starting off with a personal anecdote about his son and thanked soldiers for the sacrifice they make everyday.

“Thank you tremendously for your service, especially those who can’t spend it with their loves ones this year,” Kid Rock said.

One piece of advice Vance gave to soldiers this Thanksgiving is to live life with gratitude.

“Here’s the thing about Thanksgiving because at the heart of it, is the spirit of gratitude,” Vance said. “…People ask me all the time for advice, and the only advice I can give is the happiest people I ever met…live their life with the spirit of gratitude…Recognize that you would not be wearing that uniform if it weren’t for someone in your life that loves you.”Comment with Bubbles
