Former Imps Striker Pens Deal With League Two Strugglers

Bristol Rovers have confirmed the signing of former Imps forward Callum Morton as the 25-year-old looks to rebuild his career after a challenging period with Salford City.
The Gas have given him the number 39 shirt and made it clear that he has been brought in to add energy and movement to a forward line that needs support during a difficult spell in the division.
The move offers Morton a chance to get back on the pitch after limited opportunities in recent months. Rovers are battling for results and hope his previous track record in League Two can provide an important boost heading into a congested run of fixtures.
Morton himself referenced the quick turnaround as he prepares for potential involvement against Notts County at the weekend.
“I am really delighted to get the deal done and join Bristol Rovers,” he said. “I have been in a bit of a difficult period for myself but, now the deal is signed, I want to hit the ground running.
“I think this is exactly what I have needed, the platform to show what I can do and be myself again. I want to use this deal to put myself in a good position going forward and help the club out too.
“It is a quick turnaround with the game on Saturday against Notts County and it has been a while since I have been involved in a game. I am looking forward to getting myself back out there, pulling on this shirt and playing in front of the Bristol Rovers fans.”

Record Across the Lower Leagues
Morton arrives with 109 senior appearances across League One and League Two. He was a key figure in Northampton Town’s 2019 to 2020 promotion, scoring eight goals in 12 matches and finding the net in both the play-off semi-final and the final.
We secured Morton on a season-long loan in September 2020, and it seemed like a big capture. He marked his debut weekend by featuring in the EFL Cup and scored his first Imps goal in the next round against Bradford City. A shoulder injury later that month stalled his momentum and required a lengthy recovery, with the club confirming in November that surgery was under consideration.
He returned to action in March 2021 and scored within minutes against Fleetwood Town, immediately re-adding mobility and penalty-box instincts to the forward line. It was a brief renaissance that didn’t lead to a run of form. With Tom Hopper and Jorge Grant out injured, we leaned on Morton for attacking prowess, but he often looked a little lightweight. That was perhaps a symptom of missing most of the season.
Morton’s Lincoln spell totalled 21 appearances and three goals across league and cups. In the league, he registered two goals from 17 outings, complemented by a cup strike and further minutes in the EFL Trophy and play-offs. His minutes often came from the bench as he regained sharpness following injury.

His Path Since Leaving Lincoln City
After leaving City, he continued to gather Football League minutes with Fleetwood Town and Peterborough United. He joined Fleetwood permanently before signing for Salford City in January 2023. He made 27 appearances across three seasons at Salford and also had loan spells with Forest Green Rovers and Northampton Town during the 2024 to 2025 campaign.
Injury again interrupted that final season at Salford, contributing to his departure at the end of his deal. Bristol Rovers have now offered Morton the chance to prove himself and re-establish form at League Two level.
