The Marquette men’s basketball team is taking another bus ride to Chicago to play the Oklahoma Sooners at UIC Credit Union 1 Arena.

The Golden Eagles hope their second trip to the Windy City this month goes a little smoother than the first one.

Marquette suffered its worst defeat of the year at the United Center to Indiana, 100-77, Nov. 9. MU shot 37.3% and just 25% from three-point range. In all three of Marquette’s losses ― Indiana, Maryland and Dayton ― it made fewer than 40% of its shots from the field and fewer than 30% of its shots from three-point range.

MU forward Chase Ross will look to help get the Golden Eagles their first victory against a power-conference opponent this year. Ross leads the Big East in scoring at 20.3 points per game and is third in assists, at 4.3.

The matchup with the Sooners is a homecoming for Oklahoma coach Porter Moser. In addition to coaching at Loyola for 10 seasons and guiding the Ramblers to the Final Four in 2018, Moser is a Naperville, Illinois, native and a graduate of Benet Academy High School.
