Clayton Keller has suffered a major loss recently, but according to reports, the Mammoth captain is set to honour his late father on Friday night in Dallas.

Clayton Keller has been an incredible leader for the Utah Mammoth since the team made the move from Arizona, becoming the valued captain and face of this exciting, up-and-coming franchise as they look to turn all of this potential into production.

To the surprise of no one, he’s producing well once again in 2025/26, posting 8 goals and 21 points across 24 games played, and while the team have faltered as of late, he’s got the organization optimistic for a run at the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Clayton Keller to play through immense tragedy

Unfortunately, the Mammoth captain has recently suffered a tragic loss, with reports out of Salt Lake City revealing that his father recently and unexpectedly passed away.

Despite this, the 27-year old wants to play on Friday against the Dallas Stars in honour of his late father, something that would take immense strength to do as he deals with this heartbreaking loss.

No one can quite understand what Keller is going through unless they’ve been in his position, and while the loss is unimaginable, it’s safe to say that being on the ice among his teammates is a place that he would feel most happy through this heartbreaking process.

After the news, Head Coach Andre Tourigny released a statement on the situation;

With a heavy heart, we had tough news as a family yesterday. Clayton Keller’s dad (Bryan) passed away unexpectedly in his sleep. Clayton wants to play and be with the team. We want to express our condolences to the family, Clayton, his mom (Kelley), his brother (Jake). It’s a tough time for the family and we will support him in any way we can. We and the family ask everyone to respect their privacy.

We take this time to send our condolences to Keller, his family and his teammates as they all look to rally around him through what must be the hardest time of the talented young forwards life.
