Royal Mail issues major delivery delay warning for 25 locations

Royal Mail has issued an alert to certain postcodes that their deliveries may experience delays due to local issues.

Mail due to be delivered in the AL, EN, HP, LU, SG, WD, along with DE and NG, postcode areas, will arrive later than expected, they warned.

The two latter postcodes, DE and NG, are in the East Midlands, Derby and Nottingham, respectively.

Royal Mail said: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

The service has assured the effected areas that they will try to minimise the delay and provide targeted support to restore the service.

It comes after research from Royal Mail found that millennials are reportedly bringing in the most at £577 a month – an average of £6,923 a year.

And more than three in 10 (31 per cent) take home an extra £400 every four weeks, at least.

For 37 per cent, their take home from their bit on the side is sometimes higher than their main salary – rising to 54 per cent among Gen Z.

With key items sold as part of their extra hustle including old clothing (44 per cent), books (35 per cent) accessories (31 per cent) and tech (26 per cent). And a further 22 per cent make money from selling handcrafted items.

As they typically spend 10 hours a week working on their passion project.

The research forms part of the Royal Mail Means Business campaign, which champions small businesses and has dedicated support for side hustlers on its Small Business Hub, including a detailed report on the nation’s side businesses.

Saadi Al-Soudani, chief commercial officer at Royal Mail, said: “There’s serious money to be made even if you only have a few hours a week.

“Whether it’s selling items you no longer need or creating your own products, online marketplaces have made it easier than ever to start.

“Using parcel shops or lockers or even getting parcels picked up from your home is an easy way to ship out all the work you can be proud of.”
