Former Collingwood forward, delisted Eagle sign with WAFL club

West Coast’s WAFL side has bolstered its list by signing two former AFL players for the 2026 season, as well as a country Victorian star.

Former Collingwood forward Ash Johnson has signed a two-year deal with the Eagles following his stint in the top-flight.

The high-flying forward spent five seasons at the Pies, playing 27 senior games and 35 matches in the VFL following his 2021 rookie selection.

Drafted from Sturt in the SANFL, Johnson played in all three finals games in 2022, and kicked 36 goals throughout his career.

He has been training with the AFL squad.

Following the South Australian is former AFL-listed Eagle Callum Jamieson, who returns to the club after six years with the senior side.

Drafted at Pick 49 in 2019 from Claremont, Jamieson played 17 AFL games for West Coast and 36 WAFL matches in ruck roles and key defensive positions.

He was also delisted at the end of 2025.

“Having ‘Jammo’ commit to the club after being delisted speaks volumes of his character,” WAFL Coach Kyal Horsley said.

“He’s passionate about helping the club climb back up the ladder and will play a lead role in the development of our program.”

Joining the former AFL pair is Archie Watt, who has been training with the senior team ahead of the Christmas break.

Watt played for Kyabram in the Goulburn Valley League, featuring in 19 senior games, kicking 30 goals and producing a stellar performance in the grand final.

He also represented the Oakleigh Chargers and the Bendigo Pioneers in the talents pathway program.

“Archie displays great balance in his football, he reads the game well and has a hard edge with a thirst for the contest,” Head of WAFL Football Steve Trewhella said.

“We are excited to see what Archie can do in the WAFL in 2026.”

The Eagles won two games in 2025, claiming the wooden spoon after finishing 10th.
