Deliveroo Launches Nectar Points for Sainsbury’s Orders

Deliveroo has become the first delivery platform in the UK to integrate the Nectar loyalty programme, enabling customers to collect points when placing Sainsbury’s grocery orders via the app. Starting today, Nectar members can earn one point per £1 spent on eligible products ordered through Deliveroo from participating Sainsbury’s stores.
The new feature allows users to link their Nectar and Deliveroo accounts at checkout. Once linked, customers will be prompted to enter the Nectar card number registered to their account when ordering eligible items. This mirrors the in-store experience and gives on-demand shoppers the opportunity to accumulate rewards as they would through traditional channels.
The rollout of Nectar follows Deliveroo’s broader strategy to integrate loyalty schemes across grocery, restaurant, and retail partners. With 97% of UK consumers reportedly members of at least one loyalty programme, the move aims to meet growing demand for value and rewards as part of the online shopping experience.
Nectar, one of the UK’s largest loyalty programmes, has 24 million members and over 500 collection partners. Points earned can be redeemed across a wide network of brands, including Sainsbury’s, Argos, Esso, and British Airways. Customers typically use their points for groceries, fuel, flights, or other rewards provided through partner organisations.
The partnership builds on the continued popularity of ordering Sainsbury’s products through Deliveroo. Among the most frequently purchased items are Sainsbury’s Strawberries 400g, British Semi Skimmed Milk 2.27L (4 pint), and Fairtrade Bananas x5, highlighting the demand for fresh grocery essentials delivered quickly.
Suzy McClintock, Vice President of New Verticals at Deliveroo, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Nectar, one of the UK’s most valued and far-reaching loyalty schemes, to Deliveroo. This integration is a massive win for our customers, who can now earn points on their Sainsbury’s grocery orders, further establishing Deliveroo as the go-to destination for on-demand convenience and loyalty.”
The relationship between Deliveroo and Sainsbury’s began in 2021 with just under 300 sites. Since then, the partnership has grown significantly, now covering over 1,000 sites across the UK.
