First Alert Weather Days Saturday & Sunday

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – The next winter storm will impact the region this weekend with accumulating snow. The flakes will wind down early Sunday, but gusty winds are going to cause blowing and drifting snow. Staying cold in the days ahead.

Overcast on Saturday with light snow overspreading the region from SW to NE from the morning into the early afternoon. The snow will be moderate to perhaps heavy at times from Highway 10 on south Saturday afternoon into Saturday night. Expect snow covered roads and overall hazardous travel conditions in Central Wisconsin, while slippery and snowy roads in the Northwoods. Temperatures on Saturday in the low to mid 20s.

The snow will taper to light snow Saturday night, then to snow showers on Sunday morning. The flakes will wind down during the morning on Sunday. Meantime, brisk winds are on tap from late Saturday night into Sunday. Gusts up to 30 mph are possible, causing blowing and drifting snow.

HOW MUCH SNOW?

Snowfall potential ranging from 1-3″ in the Northwoods to just south of Highway 8, 3-6″ from just south of Highway 8 to about as far south as Highway 10, and 6-10″ from Highway 10 on south from Saturday into Sunday morning. In other words, the further south you live, the higher the snowfall totals.

Looking ahead

A mix of sun and clouds on Monday and cold with highs in the mid 10s. Considerable cloudiness for the rest of the week and staying rather chilly. A risk of snow showers on Wednesday and breezy, while a chance of snow showers on Thursday. The outlook for the Wausau holiday parade is for cold conditions with clouds and temperatures during the parade on Friday evening in the mid to upper 10s.
