Jordan Pickford and Everton are a match made in heaven – just like the England goalkeeper’s marriage to Megan Davison. The couple are childhood sweethearts and tied the knot at a registry office in 2020, although Pickford opted to wear some unusual attire for the occasion.

Pickford and Davison originally had an elaborate plan to marry in the Maldives in front of their friends and family. But that plan was scuppered – like many others – due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Not wanting to wait till the world returned to normal, Pickford and Davison made do with a registry office in Cheshire instead.

Despite the low-key nature of their marriage becoming official, they were spotted enjoying a kiss outside the office with their clothing, notably Pickford’s, gaining attention. While Davison, who was holding their son Arlo, was dressed in a blouse and white fur, the Premier League star went viral for his decision to wear a Givenchy tracksuit top, ripped blue jeans and a black baseball cap.

That didn’t stop the new bride from publicising their nuptials on social media as she took to Instagram to post the photo outside the registry office as she wrote: “We’re getting married in the morning.

“Well we should have been! It’s all gone a bit Pete Tong, so here’s a throwback of us on our legal registry office day since there are bigger things going on in the world right now. You are worth the wait my love @jpickford1.”

Prior to their wedding debacle, the happy couple endured quite the engagement calamity after Davison’s diamond ring, which reportedly set Pickford back £500,000, was stuck on her finger after suffering with water retention during her pregnancy with Arlo.

Taking to Instagram in a bid to find out potential methods that could save the ring, she told her followers that she had already attempted to use washing up liquid, butter and ice to release the ring from her hand.

However, it was to no avail as she revealed just two hours later: “We’ve been to the jewellers for the chop. Thanks so much everyone for the messages, I’ll try and reply once I have feeling back in my fingers.”

Despite the issues that plagued them from realising their wedding dreams, the couple managed to make it come true two years later on a picture-esque Maldives beach. Arranged by wedding planners Ikebana Maldives, it was in the summer of June 2022 when the pair showed off photos of their celebrations social media as they were surrounded by their loved ones in south Asia.

Standing on a white podium surrounded by pink roses as they made their vows to one another, they did so in front of their 13 guests with one photo shared on Instagram showing the parents cradling and kissing their son Arlo.

Megan was wearing a white off-the-shoulder gown designed by Berta fashion house with a floral lace detail. She certainly would have been pleased to see her new husband donning a dapper white tuxedo.

The Everton goalkeeper swapped the jeans for smart white trousers while the tracksuit top was replaced with a white shirt, a cream-coloured bowtie which supported an equally debonair waistcoat and blazer.

Pickford finished off his wedding look with a pair of brown loafers but took them off when making the walk off the podium to the golden sand with his new bride.
