Kandi Burruss breaks her silence on ‘difficult’ divorce from Todd Tucker

Kandi Burruss is opening up about her divorce from husband Todd Tucker.
The R&B singer-songwriter and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum, who revealed the couple is getting divorced on Friday, Nov. 21, addressed the couple’s split during an appearance on Amazon Live on Monday. Burruss and Tucker, a former “RHOA” production manager, had been married for 11 years.
“This is something that has been brewing for a while,” Burruss, 49, said during the livestream. “All the times you’ve seen me smiling online meant nothing. I’ve been going through it. Life has been life-ing me.”
Burruss confirmed her divorce from Tucker in an emotional statement to People magazine. The Xscape songstress did not disclose the reason for the couple’s split.
“After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce,” Burruss told the magazine. “This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be and coparenting with love and respect.”
Representatives for Tucker were not available for comment at the time of publication.
Burruss and Tucker began dating during production on the fourth season of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” which aired in late 2011. The couple became engaged on New Year’s Day 2013.
“I used to make jokes with my friends that I [was] part of the Forever Single Club,” Burruss told Us Weekly at the time. “That’s what I said before, but now I’m totally different.”
In true housewife fashion, Burruss and Tucker tied the knot in April 2014 in a ceremony in Atlanta. The pair went on to have two children together: son Ace, 9, and daughter Blaze, 6.
“I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family and my own growth,” Burruss told People. “I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family.”
