Gaten Matarazzo is spilling the details about living with his Stranger Things costar.

The actor, 23, opened up on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s on Me podcast about his “disgusting” experience living with Finn Wolfhard for about a year while they were filming the fifth season of the hit Netflix series.

While the experience was positive, Matarazzo said the two had an issue maintaining the cleanliness of their rented apartment.

“It was great. It was kind of like a college experience,” he said.

The actor noted that he and Wolfhard, 22, were “the same age” and struggled to keep their apartment clean. “I would look around like three months after we lived together and [be] like, ‘This place is disgusting. What are we doing?’ ” he joked.

When asked by Ferguson who was messier, Matarazzo answered, “We kind of match each other’s energy a little bit.” The actor explained that he and Wolfhard “had been so close for so long that we didn’t really hold each other to a standard.”

Therefore, the two had a more relaxed approach to house cleaning. “We were kind of like, ‘Ah, f— it. Whatever, man. We’ll get to it later,’ ” he said.

Matarazzo said the two would have a “wake-up call” when he and Wolfhard would plan to go out and someone would suggest meeting at their place. “Both of us would be like, ‘No, do not come [within] 10 feet [of] our home,'” he explained.

Matarazzo also noted that sharing an apartment with a friend can be risky, but his friendship with Wolfhard prevailed.

“When you’re moving in with one of your best friends, you never know if you’re going to live together well,” he said. “That could ruin friendships. It ruins a dynamic. If you’re mature enough, you can be like, ‘This isn’t working for us, so for the sake of our friendship, we should end this.’ [But] it was great.”

The two Stranger Things stars have a friendship that previously made headlines. Last July, they were spotted hand-in-hand playfully walking around the streets of New York City with Matarazzo’s girlfriend, Elizabeth Yu.

Stranger Things, which first premiered in 2016, aired the first part of its final season on Nov. 26.  Creators Matt and Ross Duffer recently teased the anticipated finale in an interview with Variety.

“I’ve said this before: The show is not Game of Thrones,” Matt said.

“I’m hoping it surprises people. But there’s no Red Wedding, if that’s what you’re asking,” he said, referring to a massacre on GoT. “That would be depressing.”
