DRIP Tunbridge Wells Left High and Dry as Pembury Water Plant Shuts

Tunbridge Wells residents have been plunged into a water crisis after the Pembury water treatment works ground to a halt today. The sudden shutdown has left taps running dry across the town and surrounding areas.

Water Treatment Works Shuts, Tanks Run Low

South East Water reported an “issue” at the Pembury facility around 1:30pm on Saturday, forcing an immediate closure. The problem drained the local drinking water storage tanks, knocking out the crucial booster pumps.

These boosters are essential for pumping water uphill to homes situated above the treatment works. Without them, residents face either a loss of water supply or dangerously low water pressure.

Help at Hand – Bottled Water Stations Open

  • Bottled water is available until 10pm today at Sovereign Way East Car Park in Tonbridge.
  • South East Water’s customer care team is delivering water bottles to vulnerable customers on their priority services register who cannot collect supplies themselves.

Stay Updated on Water Crisis

South East Water urges affected customers to sign up for automatic updates via text or email to stay informed as the situation develops.

“Customers in these areas may now experience loss of supply or low pressure,” the water company said.

This unexpected shutdown has residents anxiously waiting for their taps to flow again. Keep tuned for the latest updates on this developing story.
