MSU football video analysis after the Spartans’ 20-17 loss at Iowa

Lansing State Journal columnist Graham Couch and Detroit Free Press beat writer Chris Solari discuss MSU’s loss at Iowa and decisions that led to it.

Michigan State football’s season is coming to a close.

The Spartans (3-8, 0-8 Big Ten) will be taking on the Maryland Terrapins (4-7, 1-7) at Ford Field in Detroit in a battle of Big Ten opponents hoping to avoid last place in the conference. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. ET and will be televised on FS1.

For many Michigan State fans, it will be a merciful conclusion to a rough season that has yet to see the Spartans pick up a conference win. For others, including coach Jonathan Smith and backup quarterback Alessio Milivojevic, it will be a test to see what the 2026 season could look like as Michigan State may see big changes heading into the next year.
