Alex Kingston has reassured fans she won’t be pulling out of Strictly Come Dancing after suffering a rib injury.
The 62-year-old actress’ daughter concerned among viewers when she revealed her mum had been dancing through the pain on Saturday (November 22) night’s show, which took place at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool.
But the former E.R. and Doctor Who star has insisted it was simply “part and parcel” of being in the competition and she has no plans to withdraw like a few of her co-stars have, unfortunatley, had to.
Alex’s daughter, Salome Violetta Haertel, 24, had commented on an Instagram video of Alex and her professional partner Johannes Radebe’s performance, a Couple’s Choice to a mash-up of History Repeating by Propellerheads and Look At Me by Geri Halliwell, and said: “So so proud!!! Slayed on the dance floor, dislocated rib and all!!!”
And after fans expressed their concerns, Alex took to Instagram herself to insist she is “completely fine”. She wrote in a statement posted to her Instagram Story: “I just want to assure everyone that I am completely fine.
“It is a minor injury…it’s all part and parcel of dancing at these levels. The comment was made by my concerned and loving daughter…nothing more. I will be on the dance floor as early as tomorrow morning… rehearsing. Super excited for next week! Cha cha cha [dancer emojis].”

Alex’s update came after this weekend’s elimination was cancelled when La Voix pulled out of the competition due to a foot injury. The former RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, was forced to withdraw totally from the show after they had initially been given a bye to the next round of the competition after the injury was announced last week.
As a result, there was no dance-off on this week’s results show and no elimination, with votes and scores set to be carried over to next week. Following the news, La Voix wrote on her social media accounts: “I’m absolutely devastated to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing.
“This isn’t the glittering exit I ever imagined, and it breaks my heart to feel like I’m letting people down. My spirit wanted to keep dancing but my foot has other ideas!”

The 45-year-old star – whose real name is Christopher Dennis – went on to thank Strictly Come Dancing’s viewers for supporting her and Aljaz Skorjanec each week. She added: “Thank you for every cheer, every vote, and every sparkle of support – it’s meant the world to me.”
The star added that she will always be grateful for the experience. La Voix concluded her statement with: “This isn’t the ending I imagined, but I’ll cherish this forever.”
Earlier in the series, Neighbours actor Stefan Dennis had to withdraw due to a calf injury, while before the show had even started broadcasting, Game of Thrones actor Kristian Nairn pulled out on medical grounds, and Love Island star Dani Dyer was unable to take part after fracturing her ankle.
