Man dead after shooting near Surrey’s Guildford mall

Police say a man has died following a shooting near Guildford Town Centre — one of Surrey’s busiest shopping malls — late Friday evening.
Officers were called to the area of 152nd Street near 104th Avenue shortly after 11:30 p.m., the Surrey Police Service (SPS) says.
When they arrived, they found the man suffering from life-threatening injuries. He died at the scene.
The SPS says the motive is under investigation, but it doesn’t appear to have been a random incident or related to extortion.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation.
IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong tells 1130 NewsRadio they are working to identify the victim. She says the shooting happened close to a gas station near the mall. Further information will be available once the victim has been identified, she says.
This is the city’s sixth homicide of 2025, according to the SPS.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
