Anthony Edwards ‘ready’ to play Thunder again: ‘Got our a– kicked’

After two meltdowns in gimme games, the Minnesota Timberwolves had a team dinner in OKC. Preparing to serve revenge on Thanksgiving Eve, the Oklahoma City Thunder ghosted their meal plans.
The Thunder were on the right side of a thriller in a 113-105 win over the Timberwolves. The ESPN-only contest was an awesome contest that lived up to the hype. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander battled an illness and still dropped an efficient 40 points. Anthony Edwards nearly matched him with 31 points.
It was some good cardio exercise to get the heart pumping. If you’re OKC, you welcome the back-and-forth affair after getting bored with several blowout wins. Gilgeous-Alexander wasn’t required to clock out earlier than scheduled as he closed out this 2025 NBA Cup win.
But if you’re the Timberwolves, three straight losses have caused some frustration. For Edwards, that goes all the way back to this past May, when the Thunder gentlemen swept Minnesota in the 2025 Western Conference Finals. This was another painful reminder of how large the gap is between these two teams.
“I’m not a moral victory type of guy. Nah. We lost. Got our a– kicked, again, by them. I hate it,” Edwards said. “I’m just ready to play them again.”
You can always expect Edwards to be bluntly honest. He was the first to admit that the Thunder shut him down during the 2025 Western Conference Finals. Even if the on-court talent is still far apart, his NBA rivalry with Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the best in the league.
The Thunder will play the Timberwolves three more times. Expect those games to be classics, as well. Even with last year’s playoff series, Minnesota has always given OKC fits. After all, it was one of the few teams that handed them multiple losses last season in their historic 68-14 record.
