Lash Legend Talks SmackDown Call Up: “It Wasn’t Really A Matter Of If, It Was A Matter Of When”

Lash Legend has been a nice addition to the SmackDown brand and the most recent woman to be added to that locker room.
Legend is heading into her first WarGames match this weekend at Survivor Series. She spoke recently with Denise Salcedo about her call up and her confidence shows.
“Yeah, so I got my notification that I was needed for TV, for SmackDown. I’ve been on multiple — I’ve had a lot of great opportunities on the main roster. I didn’t officially know until I got there but once I got there, it was, we’d love to officially have you on the SmackDown roster. I was just so happy smiling ear to ear. Since they told me, we’ve just been going and I’m like, alright, let’s do it.”
Legend was then asked if she was surprised by the call-up notification as she continues,
“Honestly, no. Honestly, the past year I’ve been knowing, I’ve had a feeling in my gut since we had the storyline around this time last year with the tag division. I just knew since then like, okay, surely I should be up there soon. I’ve just been being very optimistic, it wasn’t really a matter of if, it was a matter of when. I’ve just been staying optimistic like, okay, it’s going to happen. No, I wasn’t surprised, I was very happy though when it officially did happen.”
Legend comments in the support she has received from the main roster women.
“Having the girls on the main roster being so supportive, even though I wasn’t officially on there. Nia been supportive. Bianca Belair, Naomi, like these girls really just have been so nice and uplifting me. Bianca just always like, ‘It’s gonna happen. It’s gonna happen.’ And I was like, ‘Okay yes, you’re right. It’s gonna happen.’
I’m just grateful for that, honestly. I feel like a lot of these women gave me a lot of hope and then when it officially happened, just having all the support and love was it was very nice to see. Especially from the WWE Universe and the people that are on the staff, the cameramen, the makeup artists, like so many people—of course, Hunter. It’s just been amazing and undescribable because I’m just like. ‘Wow, I’m really here and I feel so appreciated and and valued already.’ So, I’m grateful.”
Early in her career, Legend was able to witness the all important main event at WrestleMania between Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks. She talks how it impacted her.
“When I first started wrestling; Bianca and Sasha Banks. The main event match, that was life changing for me, that was career changing for me. I had just started but still like, I think it really set in like ‘this is really what I wanna do and I wanna be great at it’. That was life changing, I can go on and on about how special that match was to me and my career. But even prior, I loved Macho Man. Macho Man he was just, and Elizabeth, and Mean Gene, I loved them. They were just amazing. I think as far as charisma, Macho Man gave me a lot of that, The Rock, Stone Cold, they were my absolute favorites and still are. We can’t forget about Jacqueline, she was killer. Chyna. There’s a lot of great woman that I was like wow, I can continue to be badass, they’ve shown that it’s totally possible.”
