John Cena Loses Final WWE PLE Match Due To Big Return

WWE

John Cena had his last ever WWE PLE match at Survivor Series ‘WarGames’ tonight at Petco Park in San Diego.

Cena put the Intercontinental Championship on the line against former champion Dominik Mysterio.

Cena had won the title from Mysterio on the November 10 edition of Raw in Boston, winning the last title he needed to complete the WWE Grand Slam.

Tonight, in Mysterio’s hometown, the former champion was joined at ringside by his Judgment Day teammates Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, who played a big part early on.

Mysterio feigned an injury on the outside after taking a powerbomb from Cena, but it was a ruse to allow Rodriguez and Perez to attack Cena in the ring with the Tejana Bomb and Pop Rox respectively.

Mysterio then suddenly popped up from ringside and landed a 619 and frog splash, only for the referee to recognize what had happened and refuse to count the pin.

Referee Chad Patton then threw Rodriguez and Perez out of ringside, forcing them to go backstage and making things one-on-one.

Later, there was another incident with the ref, as he was inadvertently struck by a John Cena shoulder block.

When he was down, Mysterio’s other Judgment Day partners – JD McDonagh and Finn Balor – came out to help the challenger.

However, Cena landed a double Attitude Adjustment with both of them on his shoulders to take them out of the picture.

After Mysterio tried to take advantage of the distraction, Cena countered with another AA, but the referee was still down and unable to count the pin.

With Cena hoping another referee would come out, he was instead greeted by the return of Liv Morgan, who has been out of action and off TV since June due to a shoulder injury.

Morgan headed to the ring and at first slapped Mysterio, but it was all a trick, as she then struck Cena with a low blow to help Mysterio regain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Liv Morgan is back, and Dominik Mysterio has won the IC Title back from John Cena.

Cena now only has one match remaining in his WWE career as he will face GUNTHER, LA Knight, Solo Sikoa or Jey Uso at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.
