WWE Survivor Series WarGames results: Powell’s review of two WarGames matches, John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Title

By Jason Powell, ProWrestling.net Editor (@prowrestlingnet)
WWE Survivor Series WarGames
San Diego, California, at Petco Park
Streamed live November 29, 2025, on ESPN Unlimited (Netflix internationally)
Cassie B performed the national anthem to close the countdown show (apparently, Cassie A was unavailable)… Michael Cole narrated backstage/arrival shots of “Team Rhea” and “Team Asuka,” Stephanie Vaquer and Nikki Bella, and Dominik Mysterio. Dom was cheered by his hometown fans…
The sirens blared as the cage started to lower around the two rings. “Let the WarGames begin,” Cole said… A Survivor Series WarGames video package aired… Pyro shot off from a platform inside the stadium. Cole said over 45,000 people would be in attendance.
Powell’s POV: They are shooting straight when it comes to topping 45,000 for the attendance. Less than an hour before the show, WrestleTix listed the venue as being set up for 45,646 with 45,034 tickets distributed.
Ring announcer Alicia Taylor read through the rules of the WarGame match. Charlotte Flair made her entrance and stopped to greet a fan at ringside. Cole said the girl is battling a brain issue. Asuka’s entrance followed. Cole and Wade Barrett checked in from their ringside broadcast table and introduced the Spanish broadcast team.
1. “Team Rhea” Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and AJ Lee vs. “Team Asuka” Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax, Lash Legend, and Becky Lynch in a WarGames match. Flair and Asuka started the match. Flair went for a fallaway slam, but Asuka countered with a German suplex and then threw a kick at Flair. Asuka caught Flair on the ropes and knocked her down to the apron.
The second entrant for Team Rhea was Iyo Sky, who brought a trash can lid with her name painted on it. Sky brought the weapon inside the cage, but Asuka took it away. Sky put Asuka down with a dropkick and grabbed the weapon. Asuka clotheslined Sky over the ropes. Asuka kicked Flair. Sky tried to go from rope to rope and slipped, but she still made contact with Asuka on the way down. Sky got Asuka down in a corner and then ran toward her, put the weapon in front of her knees, before crashing into Asuka. Sky ground Asuka’s face on the steel plate that covers the opening between the two rings.
The second entrant for Team Asuka was Becky Lynch. Cole said Lynch was the self-appointed captain of the team. Lynch brought a kendo stick inside the cage with her and worked over Sky with it. Lynch got the better of Sky and then Flair.
The third entrant for Team Rhea was Alexa Bliss, who ran to the ring and entered without a weapon. Bliss dropkicked Sky’s trash can lid into Asuka. Bliss worked over Lncy with a series of slaps and then drilled her with a knee strike. Flair picked up Bliss and had her dropkick Lynch. Bliss and Flair hit the heels with stereo Natural Selections.
The third entrant for Team Asuka was Kairi Sane, who brought a green chain with her. Sane wrapped the chair around her first and then jumped off the top rope and punched Flair. Sane ran over to help Asuka. Sky jumped from the ropes into a trash can lid shot from Sane. The heels wrapped the chain around the three babyfaces while they were on the mat. Lynch held the chain, and then Asuka and Sane dropkicked their opponents.
The fourth entrant for Team Rhea was AJ Lee. Lynch tried to hold the door closed to prevent Lee from entering. Lee climbed up the door and over the top of the cage. Lee stood on the top rope and then hit Asuka and Sane with a crossbody block. Lynch showed fear and tried to run away from Lee, who caught her and slammed her head into two turnbuckles. Lee skipped around one of the rings and then ran Lynch through the ropes and into the cage three times. Lee hit Lynch with a Shining Wizard. Sane hit Lee from behind and then mocked Lee skipping. Lee quickly got the better of Sane. Asuka approached Lee while the broadcast team said they’d never met in the ring before. Lynch hit Lee from behind, and then the heels put the boots to Lee until her partners ran over to help.
The fourth entrant for Team Asuka was Nia Jax, who wore new gear. Jax hit Flair and Bliss with hip attacks that drove them into the cage. Jax dropped Sky with a punch and then mocked her by pointing at herself. Lee threw punches at Jax, who shoved her to the mat. Jax powerbombed Sky and then played to the crowd for heat.
The fifth and final entrant for Team Rhea was Rhea Ripley, who carried a bag with kendo sticks and the trash can with Sky’s name on it. Cole said Ripley’s face shield and gear were inspired by the Terrifier movies. Ripley put Sane in a Prism Lock. Sky put a trash can over Sane’s head while she was in the hold, and then Sky got a running start and kicked the can. Jax put down Sky and Ripley. Bliss put Jax down with a DDT.
The fifth and final entrant for Team Asuka was Lash Legend, who didn’t get much of a reaction from the live crowd. Once Legend and referee Jessika Carr were inside the cage, Taylor declared, “And now let the WarGames begin.” Cole said Lynch has had issues with the referee and dubbed her Crooked Carr. Legend and Ripley fought. Legend put Ripley down with a powerbomb. When Ripley stood up, Legend put her down with a pump kick. Legend covered Ripley for a two count.
Lynch put Bliss down with a Manhandle Slam and went for the pin, but Sky broke it up with an Over the Moonsault. Jax and Legend tossed Sky from one ring onto her teammates in the other ring. Sane wrapped her chain around her arm. Asuka held Sky while Sane hit her with an Insane Elbow. Ripley broke up the pin attempt that followed.
The heels surrounded Ripley while her partners were down. Flair shoved Ripley to spare her from Asuka’s mist, which hit Legend instead. Bliss hit Jax with Twisted Bliss. Sky stood on the top of the cage. Lee tried to hand her the trash can, but she was too short. Ripley put Lee on her back, and then she handed the can to Sky, who put it over her head and performed a Swanton onto some of the heels.
Lynch was the only heel standing. She tried to escape the cage, but she was pulled back inside by Flair. Bliss punched Lynch, and then Ripley hit Lynch with Riptide. Lee put Lynch in the Black Widow hold and got the quick submission win.
“Team Ripley” Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair, and AJ Lee defeated “Team Asuka” Asuka, Kairi Sane, Nia Jax, Lash Legend, and Becky Lynch in 41:10 in a WarGames match.
Lee’s music played while the babyfaces celebrated together, and then pyro shot off…
Powell’s POV: A decent modern WarGames match. They followed the usual formula by giving everyone a moment to shine. It was wise to have the inexperienced Legend enter last, and it was likely effective in terms of making her seem like a heavy hitter in the eyes of casual viewers. I like the idea of Lynch taking the loss for her team. She dropped the Women’s Intercontinental Title recently, and her character is a lot of fun when she gets manic over losing matches.
A video package focused on the build to the Intercontinental Title match…
Rapper Lil Yachty, singer Adriel Favela, boxer Andy Ruiz, and San Diego Padres’ pitcher Jeremiah Estrada were shown in the crowd…
AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio made his entrance wearing a white mask and received a big ovation from his hometown fans. Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez walked out behind Dom and headed to the ring with him. There was a mix of cheers and boos once Dom’s music stopped.
After a long pause, John Cena’s entrance music hit, and there were loud cheers. Cena said it was his last PLE and the last night on ESPN. The decibel meter graphic was used, and it peaked at 110 while Cena was running to the ring. Once in the ring, Cena motioned for his music to stop playing, and there were pro-Cena chants…
2. John Cena vs. AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio (w/Raquel Rodriguez, Roxanne Perez) for the Intercontinental Championship. Alicia Taylor delivered in-ring introductions for the championship match. Cole noted that Cena has 100 PLE wins, second only to Undertaker. Dom shot Cena into the ropes and then distracted the referee while Rodriguez tripped Cena. Dom removed the shirt that he wore around his waist and threw it at Cena. Dom went to the ropes and made the “you can’t see me” hand gesture while looking at the fans.
Cena got up and threw punches, but Dom caught him with a shot to the eye. As the referee spoke to Dom, Rodriguez climbed onto the apron and hit Cena. Dom performed the Three Amigos. Dom put the boots to Cena in a corner of the ring. Both wrestlers ended up on the floor. Cena wanted to go after Dom, but Rodriguez and Perez blocked his path. Dom hit Cena with a sucker punch while he was focused on the women. Dom ran Cena into the apron and the barricade, then mugged for the crowd while standing on the ring steps.
There was a botched spot where Dom went for a huracanrana off the barricade, but he landed on the back of his head and shoulder. The referee and trainers tended to Dom while the broadcast team said it was eerily similar to what happened to Penta on Monday’s Raw. Rodriguez hit Cena with a Tejana Bomb, and then Perez followed up with Pop Rox. Dom shot up and returned to the ring to hit Cena with a 619 and a frog splash, but the referee refused to count and then ejected Rodriguez and Perez from ringside.
Powell’s POV: Awesome sequence. The bump that Dom took looked much worse than the one Penta took on Raw, and then Dom convincingly sold shoulder pain.
Cena fired up and ended up putting Dom in the STFU, but Dom reached the ropes. Dom loosened his boot, and then Cena pulled it off. Dom tripped Cena and hit him with another 619. Dom hit another frog splash and went for the pin, but Cena kicked out. Dom put his boot on. Cena hoisted him up and hit an Attitude Adjustment for a good near fall. A “this is awesome” chant broke out. Cena hit Dom with a shoulder block and went for another, but this time he accidentally hit the referee. REF BUMP!!! Cena put Dom in the STF.
Finn Balor and JD McDonagh ran out and attacked Cena. McDonagh went for a moonsault, but Cena put his knees up. Cena avoided a Coup de Grace from Balor. Cena powered up Balor and McDonagh and gave them a double Attitude Adjustment. Dom grabbed the Intercontinental Title belt off the podium at ringside and returned to the ring with it. Dom waited for Cena to get up and then swung the belt at him, but Cena ducked it and put Dom down with an AA. Cena motioned for a second referee.
Liv Morgan’s entrance music played, and she jogged to the ring. Morgan waited for Dom to stand up and smiled at him. Dom smiled back, but then she slapped him. Cena stood behind Morgan and smiled while pointing at Dom. Morgan turned toward Cena, who took a step back. Morgan jumped into Cena’s arms and was all smiles. Morgan’s facial expression changed, similar to the way Cena’s did at WrestleMania. Once Morgan was back on her feet, she kicked Cena in the balls. Dom hit Cena with a 619. Morgan hit Cena with the title belt. Dom hit a frog splash. Morgan got the referee back in the ring, and then he made the three count.
Dominik Mysterio defeated John Cena in 16:40 to win the Intercontinental Title.
After the match, Morgan jumped into the arms of Dom, who held up his title belt. Dom picked up the AAA Mega Championship belt and handed the Intercontinental Title belt to Morgan. They held up the belts before leaving the ring. Dom held Morgan in the entrance aisle while pyro shot off behind them. Dom looked into the camera and boasted that he’s the greatest Mysterio of all-time and a two-time Intercontinental Champion.
The focus shifted to Cena, who got back to his feet while the fans were chanting, “Thank you, Cena.” Cena waved to the fans and then exited the ring. Cena’s music played, and he greeted a kid at ringside before heading to the back. Cena looked into the camera and thanked the fans. Cole hyped Cena’s last match for Saturday Night’s Main Event…
Powell’s POV: I guess this means we in the pro wrestling media can hold off on writing editorials on how huracanranas off the barricade need to be banned. I can’t get over how great the injury angle was. This was a rare case of outside interference helping a match rather than hurting it. Cena was protected, and Dirty Dom did Dirty Dom things with help from the returning Liv Morgan and the rest of Judgment Day. I love it.
A WrestleMania 42 commercial aired with Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Jade Cargill, Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton, and Liv Morgan…
Nikki Bella made her entrance to a quiet reaction. A fan held up a “Marry Me, Nikki” sign, and she heeled it up by shooting him a dirty look. Stephanie Vaquer made her entrance to a better reaction. A graphic noted that she’d been champion for 70 days…
3. Stephanie Vaquer vs. Nikki Bella for the Women’s World Championship. Alicia Taylor delivered in-ring introductions for the title match. The reaction to Nikki was flat, and Vaquer received a small pop. The referee called for the bell. Nikki immediately attacked Vaquer to start the match. Vaquer took offensive control and hit Nikki with headbutts in a corner of the ring. Vaquer went for a running kick, but Nikki left the ring.
Vaquer followed Nikki to the floor and ran her into the broadcast table. Vaquer had Nikki’s head draped over the apron when she attempted a knee drop that Nikki avoided. Vaquer sold knee pain. Nikki drove her shoulder into Vaquer’s abdomen and asked, “Do you know who I am?” Nikki put Vaquer down and threw punches at her. Nikki played to the crowd for heat and got a mild response.
Nikki executed a spinebuster. Nikki teased doing the Devil’s Kiss, which got a rise out of the crowd, but Vaquer broke it up. Vaquer went for the Devil’s Kiss, but Nikki rolled under the bottom rope and held it. Back in the ring, Vaquer caught Nikki with a kick. Vaquer rolled Nikki into a pin moments later for a two count. Vaquer ran toward Nikki, who held up her boot, but Vaquer stopped short and then performed a dragon screw leg whip.
Moments later, Vaquer stuffed a Rack Attack attempt and then hit Nikki with a clothesline. Vaquer hit Nikki with double knees. Vaquer tried to go to the ropes, but Nikki cut her off and then kicked her. Nikki hit the Rack Attack 2.0 and went for the pin, but Vaquer put her foot over the bottom rope to break the count.
Both wrestlers fought on the apron. Vaquer sent Nikki to the floor. Nikki tried to powerbomb Vaquer off the apron, but Vaquer stuffed it and then dropped a knee on Nikki’s head. Vaquer placed Nikki on the broadcast table and then climbed up behind her. Vaquer performed the Devil’s Kiss on the broadcast table. Vaquer rolled Nikki back inside the ring and followed.
Nikki slapped Vaquer, who returned the favor. Vaquer suplexed Nikki and then performed the Devil’s Kiss again. Vaquer performed a corkscrew moonsault and got the three count…
Stephanie Vaquer defeated Nikki Bella in 12:20 to retain the Women’s World Championship.
Powell’s POV: The live crowd just wasn’t into Nikki, nor did they buy into her as a threat to beat Vaquer. Rather, the fans just waited for the Devil’s Kiss and Vaquer’s other signature moves. This looked like it should be a one-and-done feud, but perhaps they’ll try to get a TV match out of it.
Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Grayson Waller were featured in an ad for the WWE Supercard game…
Cole hyped John Cena’s final match. The Last Time Is Now tournament brackets were shown while the broadcast team hyped the remaining matches for Raw and Smackdown that will determine Cena’s final opponent…
A video package set up the men’s WarGames match…
Actor Gabriel Luna, singer Cassie B, singer Jesus Ortiz Paz, and actress Danielle Fishel were shown in the crowd. Fishel wore a Vader shirt and received a nice reaction…
Footage aired of Roxanne Perez informing two fans that their seats were being upgraded as part of a sponsored promotion…
Powell’s POV: That Roxanne Perez is so sweet. Wait, what?!? I get that kayfabe is dead, but I don’t think it’s asking too much to have the babyfaces play the nice person role. I actually hoped this was a spoof and that Perez would tear the couples original tickets in half and have them ejected from the stadium.
A video package set up the main event… The cage lowered around the ring while “War Pigs” played and the siren blared…
Taylor read the WarGames match rules. CM Punk made his entrance wearing a “Larry’s Dad” jacket while the crowd sang along to his entrance music. Bron Breakker made his entrance as the first entrant for his team…
4. Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso vs. Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, Drew McIntyre, and Brock Lesnar in a WarGames match. World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk and Bron Breakker started the match. Punk and Breakker went face-to-face. Punk held up his index finger. Cole reminded viewers that Breakker’s team had the advantage. Punk got the better of Breakker and barked to mock him.
Breakker came back moments later by pressing Punk over his head, but Punk slipped away and then kicked the back of Breakker’s thigh. Punk jumped from the ropes and hit an ax-handle. Punk went for another move from the ropes, but Breakker caught him and suplexed him. Punk came back with a shot from the middle rope. Punk ran Breakker into the cage.
The second entrant for the heel team was Drew McIntyre. Once at ringside, McIntyre glared at Punk through the cage. Punk moved to the ring that McIntyre entered, and then they traded punches. McIntyre and Breakker took shots at Punk, who fired back at both men. Punk hit Breakker with a high knee in the corner, and then McIntyre put Punk down with a Claymore Kick. McIntyre ran Punk into the cage. Breakker and McIntyre picked up Punk and tossed him head-first into the cage. McIntyre mounted Punk and jabbed his thumbs into his eyes. Breakker and McIntyre ran Punk into the cage again. McIntyre raked Punk’s forehead against the cage.
The second entrant for the babyface team was WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. McIntyre tried to keep the cage door closed. Cody climbed to the top of the cage and then dove onto McIntyre. Punk was bleeding from the forehead. Cody hit McINtyre with a Cody Cutter. Cody threw an elbow that hit Punk. Cody got up and had words with Punk, who shoved him aside to save him from one of the charging heels. Punk and Cody hit McIntyre with a Hart Attack Clothesline. Cody hoisted up Breakker.
Punk went up top and hit a Doomsday Device that led to Breakker landing on the back of his head. Cody and Punk showed immediate concern. Punk and Cody worked over McIntyre while Breakker was out of the camera shot.
Powell’s POV: Oh, shit. That looked awful. Thank goodness, Breakker is back on his feet. Here’s hoping he dodged a bullet.
The third entrant for the heels was Logan Paul, who ended up fighting with Cody while they were both seated on top of the cage. Breakker got a chair and hit Cody with it. Cody dropped from the top of the cage. Breakker jabbed Cody with the chair several times and then ground his forehead against the cage. McIntyre and Logan held up Punk and posed before suplexing him.
The third entrant for the babyfaces was Jimmy Uso. Cole said no one on the babyface team had ever lost a WarGames match. Jimmy arrived at ringside and slammed the cage door on Breakker’s head. Jimmy pulled a sponsored table out from underneath the ring and slid it inside the cage for a big pop. Jimmy hit Logan with a Samoan Drop. Jimmy hit an Uso in the Wind on Breakker and Logan, but McIntyre cut off Jimmy’s offensive run with a kick. Breakker ran the ropes and then put Jimmy down with a clothesline. Breakker pulled Cody off the ropes with a huracanrana. Barrett was amazed, saying he feared that Breakker was paralyzed earlier.
The fourth entrant for the heels was Bronson Reed, who immediately hit Tsunami splashes on Punk, Jimmy, and then Cody.
