Report: WWE’s already offered Chris Jericho more than just a contract

But joining the ranks of AEW-critical podcasters isn’t the only sign Jericho is WWE-bound. Now we can add a report that indicates WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque and his creative team have at least agreed to work Jericho into their plans.

That report comes from the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, so feel free to dismiss it if that’s an issue for you. If you just like wrestling rumors and/or acknowledge that however flawed or great you believe Dave Meltzer to be, he’s right about creative and contract stuff like this about as often as everyone else trying to cover the backstage world of pro wrestling… here’s what Meltzer wrote about Jericho and his future:

As noted many times, this one is a Jericho decision and all hints are in the WWE direction. I know that WWE has offered him a retirement storyline and those in WWE have said that’s what they’d be interested in. Others expect him to be there early next year but nothing is confirmed.

If the reports that Jericho’s AEW contract expires at the end of the year are correct, it would make sense that WWE would be talking turkey him around turkey day. And we’d expect the legendary veteran to be considering how he’ll be booked while weighing his latest return to WWE.

And if nothing comes of this and Jericho returns to AEW, we can always say plans changed… whether the wrestle web agree that’s a valid excuse or not.
