Mavericks at Clippers Preview and Injury Update: Waving the white flag

The Dallas Mavericks (5-15) are in Los Angeles again Saturday night, this time to play the Los Angeles Clippers. Dallas is coming off one of their best offensive performances of the season which they also happened to lose. The Clippers lost to the Grizzlies on Friday night as well, also playing at home.

Here’s the main things you need to know before the game kicks off.

The Mavericks’ injury report keeps growing, though some of what’s on it is a calculated decision. Kyrie Irving, Dante Exum, and Dereck Lively are out, as is expected. Anthony Davis is out too, he’s not going to play the second night of a back-to-back after returning from the calf strain. Daniel Gafford is out, managing his ankle which has been an issue all season. Klay Thompson is also out, likely just because he’s old. As of this writing the Clippers haven’t submitted an injury report yet.

So, as you can see, it’s going to be a very different lineup of guys compared to the Mavericks of last night. I’m sure the guys who do suit up will play really hard and the Clippers are lethargic, so perhaps Dallas will have a chance anyway. The Mavericks are getting harder and harder to tune in for.

As you can tell below, you can join me in a room on Playback (embed below) during the game (though I may not be able to start it until halftime). Also consider joining Josh and I on Pod Maverick live after the game on YouTube, we should start around 10:15 pm. Thanks so much for spending time with us here at Mavs Moneyball. Let’s go Mavs!
