An NHL insider says that the Vancouver Canucks are going to have a difficult time trying to trade pending unrestricted free agent forward Evander Kane.
While Kiefer Sherwood has had a great season and undoubtedly will be one of the top names available leading up to March 6th’s deadline, but the same can’t be said about forward Evander Kane, but the same can’t be said about forward Evander Kane, who has struggled since being traded to the Canucks in the offseason.
Kane has registered just four goals and 12 points in 24 games this season for Adam Foote’s group and it appears that there might not be much of an appetite from clubs around the National Hockey League to acquire him, unless he picks it up in a big way over the next three months.

“He’s going to be moved here…He’s one of the guys that’s going to get moved there’s no question.” Dhaliwal said on Real Kyper and Bourne.
While Dhaliwal thinks it’s a slam dunk that Evander Kane is moved, one insider doesn’t think it’s a guarantee the Vancouver, British Columbia native is traded by Patrik Allvin before March 6th.
On Tuesday, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealed that there isn’t a ton of interest around the league in Evander Kane and he’s not expecting him to be dealt by the Vancouver Canucks.
“I don’t expect there to be much interest in Evander Kane, so I’m not anticipating a move there.” Pagnotta said.
With how Evander Kane has played so far this season, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone, but there’s still over three months to go until the deadline and teams will likely change their tone about trying to land the 34-year-old winger.
One possibility, if the Vancouver Canucks are dead set on trading Evander Kane, could see Patrik Allvin either retain salary or attach an asset to the deal, but it’s hard to see them doing that unless they’re guaranteed to land a player or prospect that they know will make an impact on this roster very soon.
We’ll have to see what transpires over the next 98 days, but the Vancouver Canucks are hoping that Evander Kane can turn things around and increase his trade value so he can be moved, rather than keeping him around and letting him walk for nothing on July 1st.
