Rajasthan bowler Akash Singh held his nerve in the last over as it beat Karnataka by one run in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26 Group D match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Chasing 202, Karnataka needed 16 runs in the final over before Akash was handed the ball. The pacer had a shaky start, bowling a wide before being hit for six in his second legal delivery.
However, he pulled it back for his side, conceding only five runs in the next three balls. With three needed off the last ball of the game, Karnataka’s Ravichandran Smaran failed to make proper contact with the ball, handing his team a narrow win.
Earlier, Rajasthan’s innings was anchored by its middle order with Deepak Hooda, Kartik Sharma and Mahipal Lomror all chipping in with 40+ scores.
Karnataka, which was 51/3 after seven overs while chasing, got back into the game thanks to a composed half-century from Karun Nair. However, after his dismissal at the 133-run mark, Rajasthan collapsed, losing three more wickets for just 22 runs before Akash saw the game out.
