Winter-like start to the weekend, rain chances return Sunday and Tuesday
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The cold weather has arrived in the Carolinas.

Winter-like conditions have moved in for any shopping or Christmas decorating plans!
Grab the winter coat before heading out the door!
After starting in the teens and 20s, temperatures will slowly warm into the 30s then 40s for any afternoon plans. Highs will only manage the mid to upper 40s in most locations.

Expect dry conditions with a mix of sun and clouds.
Overnight, temperatures stay above-freezing outside of the mountains, but dip below freezing in our higher elevations.
With a cold front bringing precipitation our way for Sunday, that will allow for a little icing in the mountains on Sunday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in place as a result for Avery, Watauga, and Ashe Counties. Fortunately, any freezing rain accumulations will be generally light and isolated.

For the rest of us, temperatures will warm to around 50-degrees with light, passing showers possible over the course of the day.
We’ll by dry and chilly as we kick off the new work and school week.
By Tuesday, rain coverage and intensity picks up as another low-pressure system moves overhead. Our mountain communities could see some more freezing rain in this time.
