Atalanta v Fiorentina: facts and figures –

Atalanta and Fiorentina have faced each other 66 times in Bergamo between 1929 and 2025, with a record of 23 wins for Atalanta, 17 for Fiorentina and 26 draws.
Despite the often-balanced matches, Atalanta has scored a total of 78 goals, compared to 72 by Fiorentina, which goes to show the overall balance between the two teams.
Their first competitive match dates back to the 1929/30 season, which Fiorentina won 1-0 in Bergamo. Their latest game, in September 2024, ended in a 3-2 win for Atalanta.
Throughout the years, Fiorentina have totaled 213 goals and Atalanta 141. Kurt Hamrin leads the list of top scorers in this fixture with 10 goals, followed by Gabriel Batistuta at eight and Josip Ilicic at 7. FORMER PLAYERS
Following three successful years at Atalanta, Humberto Maschio joined Fiorentina and won the Coppa Italia. Dino Da Costa won the Coppa Italia both with Fiorentina and Atalanta. Massimo Orlando spent six years at Fiorentina and then joined Atalanta, where he collected a total of 12 appearances.
Christian Vieri had three spells at Atalanta: first in 1995, then in 2006 and finally in 2008, where he finished his career. In between, he also played for Fiorentina, scoring nine goals for the team from Florence. Cesare Natali was also transferred to Atalanta three times, but it was while he was at Fiorentina that he got to play in the Champions League. Giampaolo Pazzini rose through the ranks of the Atalanta youth teams. There he met Riccardo Montolivo, another former player of the match. Pazzini joined Fiorentina in 2005 where, over the four years he spent playing for the team, he made more than 100 appearances.
Alessandro Diamanti, who was born in Prato, was signed by Fiorentina in 2015 and then joined Atalanta the following year. Daniel Osvaldo arrived in Italy in 2006, playing for Fiorentina for two seasons and scoring goals in European competitions too, including the 2-3 goal away against Juventus. Josip Ilicic spent four seasons at Fiorentina, from 2013 to 2017, and collected over 100 appearances. After that he joined Atalanta, where he stayed for five years and realized his dream of playing in the Champions League.
Pierluigi Gollini rose through the ranks of Fiorentina’s Youth Academy (before returning in 2022) and played for Atalanta for four seasons. Giacomo Bonaventura rose through Atalanta’s youth ranks and made his Serie A debut with them; he then played for Fiorentina from 2020 to 2024, netting a total of 22 goals.
FORMER COACHES
There are a few coaches who managed both teams over the years. Of them Ottavio Bianchi, Emiliano Mondonico and Cesare Prandelli only played for Atalanta, while Ferruccio Valcareggi only played for Fiorentina. The others are Alberto Bollini (Fiorentina youth teams and assistant coach to Edy Reja at Atalanta), Luigi Ferrero, Bruno Giorgi, Angelo Gregucci (assistant coach to Roberto Mancini in Florence, four losses in four games at Atalanta in 2009) and Delio Rossi.
Janos Nehadoma, Renato Gei and Corrado Viciani played for Fiorentina and only coached Atalanta; the opposite is true for Alberto Cavasin.
The last one chronologically is Raffaele Palladino, who left Fiorentina and joined Atalanta last year, after leading Fiorentina all the way to sixth place in the Serie A table. Palladino joined Atalanta right after the last fixture between the two teams and will face his past in his personal debut at home.
