Report: Rangers put defenceman Fox on LTIR

The New York Rangers will be without defenceman Adam Fox for the foreseeable future and have placed the blueliner on the long-term injured reserve list with an upper-body injury, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
The Rangers are expected to provide more of an update on Monday.

ESPN’s Emily Kaplan reports that Fox’s injury is not believed to be significantly long-term and also should not affect his Olympic availability.

The 27-year-old defenceman was injured in the third period of Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning when he took a hard hit from forward Brandon Hagel along the boards. Hagel was not penalized on the play.
Fox had one assist and one shot on goal before leaving after playing 16:27 in Saturday’s 4-1 loss.
The Jericho, N.Y. native has three goals and 23 assists for 26 points in a league-high 27 games played so far this season.
The Rangers (13-12-2) enter play Sunday seventh in the Metropolitan Division with 28 points in 27 games.
