San Antonio Spurs at Minnesota Timberwolves odds, picks and predictions

The San Antonio Spurs (13-5) end their 4-game road trip Sunday with a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves (11-8). Tip-off from Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is set for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Spurs vs. Timberwolves odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

2024-25 season series: Minnesota won 3-1

San Antonio escaped with a 139-136 win over the Denver Nuggets Friday, covering as a 6.5-point road underdog as the Over (239) was smashed. F/G Devin Vassell went off for 35 points on 12-of-17 shooting to lead the Spurs in the absence of C Victor Wembanyama, who is still out with a calf injury. The Spurs forced 17 turnovers, leading to 30 easy points against Denver.

Minnesota defeated the Boston Celtics 119-115 Saturday, failing to cover as a 6-point home favorite as the Over (229.5) hit. G Anthony Edwards hit the game-sealing 3-pointer to cap off his 39-point night. The Wolves made up for being dominated on the glass and in the paint by hitting 16 of their 20 free throws while Boston went just 9-of-15 at the charity stripe.

Spurs at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 117, Spurs 114

PASS.

I slightly lean toward the Wolves to pick up the win at home, but they’re not worth the risk as -160 favorites, especially not with San Antonio coming off a huge win. Pass here and bet on the spread and/or total instead.

BET SPURS +3.5 (-110).

The Spurs are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games, while the Wolves are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5. San Antonio has also covered the spread in 7 of its last 10 matchups vs. Minnesota.

The Wolves have better defenders than Denver, so don’t expect Vassell to have a similar game here as he did there, but look for Minnesota’s lack of consistency offensively when Edwards is out to make way for the Spurs to keep this one close throughout.

LEAN UNDER 235.5 (-110).

The Under has hit in 9 of Minnesota’s last 10 games and is 5-2 in San Antonio’s last 7 outings. Also, the total score has been less than 235 in 7 of the last 8 matchups between the Spurs and Wolves.

Both squads are nearly top 10 in both offense and defense, but the defensive side of the ball is where both teams really pride themselves on being great, so look for that to shine here.

This is a lean because the Over is 3-1 in the last 4 matchups between these squads and because both teams average over 118 points per game, making the Over a constant threat.
