Vikings waive veteran WR Adam Thielen

The Minnesota Vikings have parted ways with one of their all-time greats.

Wide receiver Adam Thielen has been released by the Vikings, the team announced on Monday.

In a team statement, Thielen’s representation asked if the team would be willing to release him, as he expressed his desire to play a larger role near the end of his career.

The 35-year-old reunited with the Vikings for his second stint with the team after being acquired from the Carolina Panthers this past off-season. Carolina received a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 fourth-rounder, while Minnesota received the veteran receiver, a 2026 conditional seventh-rounder and a 2027 fifth-round pick.

Thielen, a Minnesota native and undrafted free agent out of Minnesota State, began his career with the Vikings in 2014.

He spent nine seasons with the team, where he produced two 1,200-plus-yard seasons, as well as two Pro Bowl Selections.

On the season, Thielen has appeared in 11 games (four starts) and has a total of 69 receiving yards on eight catches.

He intends to retire at the end of the 2025 season. Thielen put out a statement after the move to thank the Vikings and their fans.
