Famous rapper commits to play college football at ACC school

Rapper Toosii said earlier this year that he was making it his goal to play Division I football.

His hard work has paid off as Toosii committed to play football at Syracuse University on Monday.

The rapper, whose hits include “Favorite Song” and “Love is,” announced the news Monday on X.

“COMMITTED. For every kid who ever had a dream, make it reality. God’s will is the way and no one can stop it, not even the devil,” Toosii posted. “I wanna thank my Lord and savior Jesus Christ for even giving me the strength to chase what I believed when so many people told me I couldn’t.

“Thank you to the people who supported me as well, it never go unnoticed. To be born in Syracuse and move to North Carolina at age 12 and haven’t been back since. When Coach Fran [Brown] called, I knew it was a sign from God. So with that being said, Cuse I’m coming home.”

Toosii, whose real name is Nau’Jour Lazier Grainger, is 25 years old. He played high school football in Raleigh, N.C. before putting his athletic career on hold to pursue his rap career.

He has been chronicling his journey to try to play Division I football on his Instagram page, regularly posting workout videos. Toosii spent time training at NC State University.

He first posted workout highlights back in June, with the caption: “I’m gon be the first artist to go back and go D1 for football 🏈 🙏🏽 I’m pushing myself everyday.#Myfirstlove.”

As it turns out, he was right.
