Aldi has issued an urgent recall for popular Christmas chocolates sold in its stores which could pose a health risk to some shoppers if consumed.
The supermarket is recalling Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks as they may contain peanuts, which were not mentioned on the product’s label.
As the presence of peanuts has not been declared on the chocolate’s label, Aldi is recalling affected batches of Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks as they may pose a risk to anyone who is allergic to peanuts and unaware of their presence in the product.
Issuing a product safety recall for the product, Aldi has outlined its supplier is recalling Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks as a “precautionary measure”.
Following the recall, the supermarket is asking customers to return any previously purchased packets of the product to their local Aldi store, where they will then receive a full refund.
All 90g packets of Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks with the batch code 4061463276865 are included in the recall, and shoppers can return them to their nearest Aldi store for a full refund.

In a statement, Aldi said: “We apologise that this product did not meet our normal high standards and thank you for your co-operation.”
Issuing a notice on the recall, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has also warned any shoppers with an allergy to peanuts to not eat batches of Dairyfine Salted Caramel Filled Gonks that are affected by the recall.

The recall also comes after Aldi issued a recall for Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s at the end of October, after they were found to contain peanuts. Following the recall, Aldi encouraged shoppers to return affected items to their nearest store for a full refund.
