Late goal pushes Lindenwood to a tie with Bemidji State; Kaitlin Groess makes 31 saves

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — With five minutes left in regulation, the Bemidji State women’s hockey team was close to securing a series split on the road against Lindenwood.
Zsofia Pazmandi had other plans.
The Lions’ junior forward scored an unassisted goal with four minutes and 45 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 2-2. It was Pazmandi’s second goal of the game.
The score held through the end of regulation and the 3-on-3 overtime session.
Isa Goettl scored first, less than two minutes into the game, to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead. Hailey Armstrong and Izy Fairchild picked up assists. Pazmandi tied the game with 1:44 left on the clock in the first period.
Morgan Smith regained the Beavers’ on-goal lead with a tally late in the second period, with an assist from Kate Johnson.
BSU (4-10-2) sophomore goaltender Kaitlin Groess (5-13-2) made 31 saves on 33 shots. LU (5-13-2) goalie Lexington Secreto made 35 saves in the tie.
