Who Are Drake Maye’s Brothers? Get To Know the Patriots QB’s Sublings Luke, Beau, and Cole Maye

Drake Maye officially took over as the New England Patriots’ starting quarterback after Jacoby Brissett was benched ahead of Week 6 in the 2024 NFL season. He impressed New England throughout the draft process with his playmaking ability, strong arm, and athleticism at North Carolina.

But Drake isn’t the only elite athlete in his family. His three older brothers, Luke, Cole, and Beau, all excelled in their respective sports, creating a competitive environment that shaped him from a young age.

How Many Siblings Does Drake Maye Have?

As the youngest, Drake was constantly fighting to keep up, which fueled his drive. His mother, Aimee, has said he was always trying to prove himself in a household full of older athletes, which helped mold his competitive edge.

“His heart just beat faster than the rest of them because he knew he was really in the game of his life here,” Aimee told ESPN. “[His thought process was], ‘I’ve got to fight for my right to play in the pickup game in the driveway or to play football in the backyard.’”

Who Is Luke Maye?

Luke Maye, the oldest of the four, carved out his own legacy at UNC. He played for the Tar Heels from 2015 to 2019, earned third-team All-American and first-team All-ACC honors, and played a key role in the 2017 National Championship run.

He is best remembered for hitting the game-winning jumper with 0.3 seconds left against Kentucky in the Elite Eight, a shot that propelled UNC to the Final Four and eventually the national title.

After college, Luke went on to play professionally in the NBA G League and overseas in Italy, Spain, Turkey, and now Japan, where he plays for the Ibaraki Robots.

Drake told ESPN that he literally lived in Luke’s shadow at UNC, joking that when they walked around campus together, fans would stop them, but the photo requests always went to Luke.

Who Is Beau Maye?

Following in Luke’s footsteps, Beau Maye also pursued basketball at North Carolina. Joining the Tar Heels as a walk-on, Beau played during the 2022-23 season but chose not to return for the 2023-24 season.

Despite his brief tenure, the fact that Beau was able to make the Tar Heels’ roster speaks to his talent and the terrific athletic genes in the Maye family.

Who Is Cole Maye?

Cole carved out a different athletic path than his brothers. Instead of football or basketball, he pursued baseball. After graduating from high school early, he joined the Florida Gators in 2017.

Cole became the second member of the Maye family to win an NCAA national title, helping the Gators capture the 2017 College World Series championship.

The Maye family has built a remarkable standard of athletic success. Now with Drake stepping into the spotlight as the Patriots’ franchise quarterback, the youngest sibling has a chance to add even more accolades to the family’s already impressive trophy case.

Maye has been impressive in the 2025 NFL campaign, throwing for 3,130 yards, 21 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while rushing for 307 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games.

Heading into Week 13, he sits second among the quarterbacks in the league based on PFSN’s QB Impact metric, proving he is quickly establishing himself as one of the league’s top young quarterbacks.
