Mavericks at Nuggets Preview and Injury Update: Finishing the road trip strong

The Dallas Mavericks (6-15) close out this road trip against the Denver Nuggets (14-5). The Mavericks are coming off one of their more impressive (and rare) victories of the season over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night. Denver last played and beat the Phoenix Suns also on Saturday.

Here’s the main things you need to know before the game kicks off.

The Dallas injury report is a mixed bag. Beyond Kyrie Irving, Dante Exum, and Dereck Lively, PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford are also missing this game. Washington is still out after slipping on a ball in warmups against the Clippers, while Gafford’s ankle is something he’s been playing through all season and I suspect the altitude in Denver didn’t help with any possible swelling. Klay Thompson will play despite missing shootaround with an illness as well Brandon Williams despite dealing with an abductor strain. The Nuggets are also missing a ton of guys: Christian Braun, Aaron Gordon, and Julian Strawther will be missing this contest. Bruce Brown is questionable as of this writing.

I think this game comes down to how seriously Nikola Jokic takes the game. There’s not a thing Dallas can do about him and they know it. If Anthony Davis gets into foul trouble, this one might be over quick. That said, Cooper Flagg is playing and he’s appointment television for me.

As you can tell below, you can join me in a room on Playback (embed below) during the game (though I may not be able to start it until halftime). Also consider joining Josh and I on Pod Maverick live after the game on YouTube, we should start around 10:15 pm. Thanks so much for spending time with us here at Mavs Moneyball. Let’s go Mavs!
