There’s a major milk recall and customers are being told to do this immediately

More than 300 gallons of milk have been recalled due to possible contamination.

Prairie Farms of Edwardsville announced the recall in a release on Nov. 25 that was published by the Federal Drug Administration. The recall affects certain Fat Free Milk which may contain “food-grade cleaning agents” that can cause illness if consumed.

According to the release, the affected Prairie Farms product was produced at its facility in Dubuque, Iowa and distributed to Woodman’s stores in Illinois and Wisconsin. The product can be identified with the DEC08 code date and the PLT19-145 plant code.

After learning of the issue on Nov. 24, the company immediately investigated and removed the product from stores.

Prior to the discovery, approximately 320 gallons of Prairie Farms Fat Free Milk had been sold.

Consumers are urged not to consume the affected product and to either dispose of it safely or return it to the store where it was purchased for a refund.
