Sydney Sweeney & Ana de Armas’ “Wild” R-Rated Thriller Finally Lands Netflix Streaming Date

After flopping at the box office, Sydney Sweeney, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, and Jude Law’s R-rated survival thriller, Eden, has already made one comeback on streaming, thanks to its debut on Prime Video. However, Netflix now has its sights set on the provocative and tense thriller, and Eden will be coming to a second streaming home before the year is out. Despite the talent on board, along with Ron Howard behind the camera, Eden should have been a major hit. The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024, but opened in theatres in 2025. However, barely anybody went to see the movie, making the film a major box office bomb. But, with Prime Video already streaming the film, and Netflix set to join the ranks, Eden could become the cult sleeper hit of 2025.

Eden will begin streaming on Netflix this December, just in time for the Holidays. Why not get your parents and grandparents together for a lovely, wholesome Christmas movie night where Sydney Sweeney, Ana de Armas, Jude Law, and Vanessa Kirby all try to seduce and kill each other on a tropical island in the early 20th Century? Eden begins streaming on Netflix on December 23, just two days before Christmas.

We’ve already mentioned a few of the names in Eden, but the talent doesn’t stop there. Daniel Brühl, Felix Kammerer, Toby Wallace, and Richard Roxburgh also star in the film, which Ron Howard co-wrote with Tetris‘ Noah Pink. The official synopsis reads:

“Director Ron Howard’s Eden unravels the shocking true story of a group of disillusioned outsiders who abandon modern society in search of a new beginning. Settling on a remote, uninhabited island, their utopian dream quickly unravels as they discover that the greatest threat isn’t the brutal climate or deadly wildlife, but each other. What follows is a chilling descent into chaos where tensions spiral, desperation takes hold, and a twisted power struggle leads to betrayal, violence, and the deaths of half the colony.”

‘Eden’ Is Making a Strong Comeback Thanks to Streaming

Who doesn’t love a comeback story? We’re sure Ron Howard does, because after grossing just $2.7 million worldwide and opening to poor reviews from viewers and critics, Eden has started to rise in popularity. We already mentioned that it shot to the top of Prime Video’s chart upon its streaming debut earlier this year. But with more eyes on the movie comes more audiences who might appreciate the film.

Battling against its 57% Rotten Tomatoes score is a far stronger 73% user rating, with audiences beginning to heap praise on Eden‘s cast and its thrilling plot. “The story is well told, the acting is great, and it’s not as bad as people have been saying,” wrote one user. “It’s a great story and a bit of a wild story,” wrote another, giving the movie four out of five stars.
