[HOUR ONE]

-They cold opened with Joe Tesstore and Wade Barrett standing in the crowd reflecting on Survivor Series. Barrett said everyone wants answers and they’ll get some tonight. Tessitore said it feels as if the energy from Saturday has rolled right into the arena for Raw. He threw to a video package on Survivor Series with clips of the show and also corporate media headlines.

-They showed arrivals including Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Logan Paul in the back hall, then Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga in the parking lot, then A.J. Styles and Dragon Lee in the back hall, and then Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan arriving in a convertible where they were greeted by Finn Balor, J.D. McDonagh, Raquel Rodriguez, and Roxanne Perez. Things felt a little icy from Perez when she smiled and nodded at Liv.

-Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley made their ring entrance. Ripley welcomed everyone to Monday Night Rhea! She said her face is a little sore and their bodies are banged up, “but our team won the war.” She put her arm around Iyo and said they were victorious, but the fight isn’t over. She said the Kabuki Warriors decided to betray Iyo, so they want revenge. She said that starts by taking the tag team titles off of the Kabuki Warriors.

Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss interrupted – Charlotte first to her music and then Bliss to hers. Bliss entered and said they heard them talking about the tag titles. She suggested they “pump the brakes a little bit” regarding that. Charlotte said they haven’t had their title rematch. Ripley said she knew they’d be butting heads at some point, but not just 48 hours later.

Ripley told Charlotte that she respects her, but they couldn’t beat the Kabuki Warriors, “so respectfully,” it was time for them to get to the back of the line. Charlotte said she doesn’t step aside for anyone. Charlotte told her to prove they deserve the tag title match. Bliss liked that and suggested they wrestle each other tonight. Fans cheered. Sky said, “You are on!” Barrett said they will see if that becomes official.

(Keller’s Analysis: Another instance of Paul Levesque testing fans’ allegiance by pitting two fan favorites against each other. The backstory, though, makes sense here. Both sides came across well here with their own rationalization for deserving and wanting a shot at the Warriors.)

-Backstage, Adam Pearce was on the phone with Nick Aldis confirming the match is official. Ivy Nile walked in and said she wanted a title match against Maxinne Dupri. Pearce said he had to work through details, but she’ll get the first title shot. Ivy said it doesn’t matter when, she’ll beat her.

Heyman and Breakker were waiting for Pearce to turn around. Pearce said he doesn’t want to hear anything from him other than who was in the mask. Heyman said he had no idea who was under the mask and not everything should be presumed to be his fault or doing. Pearce asked what he wanted. Heyman said Breakker pinned World Champion Punk, so they have a lot to talk about. Heyman opened the door to Pearce’s office and said they had a lot to talk about.

(Keller’s Analysis: Pearce could’ve said, “That pinfall hardly means what you think it does since someone not officially involved in the match aided Breakker’s victory.”)

-Jey Uso began his ring entrance.

-A vignette aired with C.M. Punk talking about his rivalry with John Cena. Punk said he was Cena’s top rival.

-Tessitore said Punk is not cleared to wrestle. He plugged the Last Time Is Now semi-final.

(1) JEY USO vs. L.A. KNIGHT – Last Time Is Now Tournament semi-final

Knight’s ring entrance aired. The bell rang and Jey came right at Knight. Knight side-stepped him and went for a BFT. Jey blocked it. They looked intensely at each other, then went into a collar and elbow hook-up. Tessitore wondered how much was taken out of Jey in WarGames two days earlier. Knight stomped away at Jey. Jey avoided a charging Knight. Jey ducked a charging Knight and then dove through the ropes and tackled him. Both went down and were slow to get up. [c]

Back live they were battling on the top rope. Knight avoided Jey’s top rope move and then landed a burning hammer for a dramatic near fall. Jey fired back with a spear for a two count. Knight ran to the corner when Jey climbed to the top and (of course) slipped but recovered and then hit a superplex for a two count. Knight showed frustration, but stood and went for a BFT. Jey rolled up Knight for a two count. Jey hit a spear and then leaped off the top rope with a frog splash for a near fall. Knight leveraged Jey’s shoulders down for a three count.

WINNER: Knight in 10:00 to advance to the Last Time Is Now Tournament final.

-Jey leaned in the corner and soaked up the loss as Knight celebrated. The camera lingered on Jey as if he had lost a Loser Leaves WWE match. He banged his head lightly against the announce desk, but then threw a fit and tipped over the energy drink stand and threw the ringside steps around. He snapped into a fuming state of frustration.

-Backstage, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria approached Pearce. Bayley asked what they have to do to get in the mix for a tag title shot. Pearce asked Bayley if she’s in the right headspace to deal with the Kabuki Warriors. Lyra said they’re good, but the augmented it to “most of the time we’re good, and right now we’ve good.” Pearce said he’d consider it. They weren’t thrilled. Asuka and Kairi Sane walked in and taunted Bayley and Lyra. Asuka said that had Bayley joined them, they could have won. She called Bayley an idiot. Bayley said they lost because they’re the idiots. Asuka said she is a champion. She said Bayley is nothing. She taunted Bayley by saying Charlotte is in the main event, not her.

-Dominik and Liv led The Judgment Day to the ring. [c]

-The Judgment Day were standing in the ring as their music faded. Dom said he beat the Greatest of All-Time, which makes him the greatest Mysterio of all-time, the greatest luchador of all time, and the greatest IC Champ of all-time. He said he couldn’t have done it without J.D., Balor, Perez, and Raquel. He said there’s one person in particular he most definitely couldn’t have done it without – Liv Morgan.

Liv came out and said nobody saw her coming, especially John Cena. Dom said they knew Cena was going to figure out their plan, so then Liv entered the picture. Liv said she missed his face so much. She told the other members she is so happy to be with them again. She said since she was gone, she heard some things about The Judgment Day. “I’ve been hearing that The Judgment Day is weak, has lost some of its gold, and is falling apart, but all of that changes now.” She said they are coming for everything that is theirs. She said as of now, The Judgment Day officially runs Monday Night Raw.

She told Dom that she had one more thing. She slapped Dom, then leaped into his arms, kissed him, and hugged his neck and caressed his neck.

(Keller’s Analysis: Perez looked nervous at one point, but then seemed relieved when Liv didn’t direct any anger or accusations at her.)

-A vignette showed Natalya putting Maxinne Dupri through heavy training sessions.

-Pearce told a referee – in front of a live camera – that he needed a favor that is done discretely. Pearce said he’s heard reports of Seth walking around backstage at Survivor Series without a sling, but he’s not medically cleared. He said he wanted the ref to keep his ear to the ground and let him know what he hears. Pearce then looked around like he was hoping nobody heard this.

(Keller’s Analysis: This is RIDICULOUS and it makes me more angry than when people don’t use their turn signals as a common courtesy when driving. Pearce is standing RIGHT IN FRONT OF A CAMERA WITH A LIVE MIC and we, as viewers, know this because it’s the only way we could see what he’s saying and doing. So now we’re supposed to believe that Pearce thinks he can keep something discrete by saying it in front of a worldwide audience on Netflix? This is just inexcusably stupid. He had to actually look over the top of a camera to pretend he was making sure no one was listening.)

(2) A.J. STYLES & DRAGON LEE vs. NEW DAY (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods w/Grayson Waller) – World Tag Team Champions

The bell rang 59 minutes into the hour. Barrett said this would be a “Biblical resurrection of the tag team division” when New Day win the belts back.

[HOUR TWO]

Dragon Lee headscissored Xavier off the ring apron onto Kofi at ringside. They cut to a break at 2:00. [c]

Back from the break, Styles and Xavier both tagged in at the same time. Styles went on a flurry of offense. Kofi blind-tagged in and scored a two count on Styles.

Eventually, after Styles sent Xavier into the ringside steps, Styles tagged in and dropped Kofi over the top rope. Lee hit a double stomp which propelled Kofi into Styles’s arms. Styles then gave Kofi a Styles Clash as Lee landed a flip dive onto Xavier and Waller at ringside. Styles got the three count.

WINNERS: Styles & Lee in 9:00 to retain the World Tag Team Titles.

(Keller’s Analysis: That was too short.)

-A recap video aired of Stephanie Vaquer vs. Nikki Bella at Survivor Series.

-Jackie Redmond asked Vaquer what message her win over Nikki sends. Vaquer said if you betray her, you will get burned. Liv walked up to Vaquer. Redmond, oddly, turned and practically fled the scene. Liv said she just wanted to say she is back. She congratulated her.

(Keller’s Analysis: WWE’s production habits are so sloppy and amateur and careless. Even though Redmond left with the mic, we could still hear them talk. And why did Redmond just scoot away like it wasn’t her business to hold the mic and catch what they were about to say?)

-Heyman, Breakker, Reed, and Logan made their entrance. [c]

-They showed an aerial shot of the arena and got in some plugs.

-Heyman stood in the ring and gave a shout out to Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre. He said it was a pleasure doing business with Drew. He put his arm around Reed and praised him. He touted Logan as “the biggest mainstream star on the face of the planet today who now fits in perfectly with Paul Heyman’s Vision for the future of WWE.” Heyman then revealed that on the first anniversary of Raw on Netflix, Breakker will headline against C.M. Punk for the World Title. He said Punk will lose to Breakker. Fans loudly chanted “C.M. Punk!” briefly.

Breakker said he is a little bit upset and it’s not because of “the hooded guy or whoever that was who jumped the cage on Saturday and tried to ruin my moment.” He said he is disappointed with how easy it was to pin Punk. He said he thought he’d have to reach deep for a different level of athleticism to beat a guy whom he heard so many stories about. He said it turned out that Punk is “nothing but a soft-ass bitch.” He said Punk is no different than any other veteran who has lived off of past glory. He got worked up and said Seth Rollins is a narcissistic piece of garbage holding everyone else down when he should be dealing with what is going on at home when his wife is a bigger star than he is. Fans chanted, “C.M. Punk!”

Breakker said on Jan. 5, it’ll be a different kind of fight. He said he tried to take away his dream. He yanked off his jacket and yelled that he is going to ruin Punk’s life and ruin his career and every good memory that everyone remembers him for. He said he didn’t forget that Punk came up to him and said last year at WrestleMania, “Well, congratulations on all the success, kid. Let’s see if you can cut a promo with the big dogs.” Breaker then said: “Well, la dee da, consider that promo cut.” He said when he beats Punk, Punk will look at him and realize he is “not even close to the ‘Badass’ Bron Breakker, the real best in the world.” He slammed the mic down. Logan yelled, “Damn!” Heyman smiled.

(Keller’s Analysis: That channeled Jim Neidhart more than Rick or Scott Steiner. It had its moments, but it felt too much like it was meant to be a “killer statement promo” by design, so rather than feeling organic, it felt forced. It didn’t help he got a little head of himself and stumbled a bit.)

-Redmond asked Jey how he is feeling after his loss to Knight. He didn’t reply at first. She persisted. She asked about Breakker becoming no. 1 contender. Jey said he doesn’t give a damn about any of that. He said there’s a lot of people in his head and he needs to get them out. He said the only person to blame is the man looking back at him in the mirror. He said Roman Reigns was right, that titles look best on his shoulders “but not mine.” [c]

-A clip aired of Cena talking about his WWE career and how decades feel like seconds.

-Tessitore plugged that the full Cena interview drops after Raw next week.

(3) SOLO SIKOA vs. GUNTHER – Last Time Is Now Tournament semi-final

The bell rang 30 minutes into the second hour. They engaged in some strength battles. Gunther knocked Solo to ringside as they cut to a break at 3:00. [c]

Solo was in control after the break. Gunther threw some chops and made a comeback. When he lifted Solo, Solo shifted his weight and landed on Gunther for a two count. Gunther landed a superplex a minute later. Both were down and slow to get up. Solo and Gunther exchanged strikes. Solo took Gunther down with a chop to the throat. They cut to another break. [c]

Gunther caught a charging Solo with a clothesline. Solo backdropped Gunther, but Gunther followed with a lariat for a near fall at 15:00. Gunther blocked a Solo spike and yanked on his thumb. Solo landed a Samoan Drop. Solo then went for the Solo Spike again, but Gunther chopped him over and over and over into the corner. Solo then countered with a Spinning Solo Slam. He leaped off the top rope with a splash for a dramatic near fall. Gunther ducked a Solo Spike and applied a sleeper. Solo pulled Gunther into the corner and removed a turnbuckle pad. Gunther suplexed him. With the ref turned to reapply the pad, Talla stepped up onto the ring apron. Gunther went after him at ringside. Talla kicked him. Solo held onto Gunther. The ref scolded Solo and Talla. Gunther then broke free with a mule kick.

Back in the ring, Gunther gave Solo a low kick and then powerbombed him for the three count. Barrett said it came down to who cheats whom.

WINNER: Gunther in 19:00 to advance to the Last Time Is Now Tournament final.

(Keller’s Analysis: Really strong match.)

-The announcers reviewed the brackets. Knight entered the ring and got in Gunther’s face. He told Gunther he’d see him soon, and then he left.

-A vignette aired with top women in Las Vegas. Becky Lynch said it’ll be anyone’s game in Las Vegas. [c]

-The ref told Pearce no one apparently knows who the masked man was. Styles and Lee walked in and said he heard the reports of Seth walking around without his sling. Styles said they want to defend next week again. Lee said they want the War Raiders. Pearce said they didn’t get a rematch and they deserve it. He said the match is booked.  Lee said Pearce is the best.

-They showed Charlotte and Bliss backstage. [c]

-Rey told Logan backstage that he might be the one person who is a bigger ass than his own son. Logan told Rey that the IC Title belongs to The Judgment Day. He told Rey that he needs to step down. Rey asked, “Or else?” Rey asked who would stop him. Logan said he’d not just stop him, he’d retire him. Rey slapped him. Officials ran in and pulled them apart.

[HOUR THREE]

(4) CHARLOTTE & ALEXA BLISS vs. RHEA RIPLEY & IYO SKY

Full ring entrances aired. They cut to an early break. [c]

When Bliss set up Sister Abigail, Ripley blocked it and landed Rip Ride. Sky then landed a leaping moonsault on Ripley. Charlotte broke up the cover with force. Asuka and Sky ran out and jumped all of them. Tessitore lamented the end of “a great match.”

WINNERS: No contest in 16:00.

-As Asuka and Kairi set up a belt shot against Iyo, Bayley and Lyra charged out to stop them. Raquel and Perez joined in the fight. Liv then attacked Lyra as she set up a move on Kairi off the announce desk. Perez and Raquel attacked Asuka and Bayley. Raquel gave Asuka a Tejana Bomb. Perez gave Bayley a Pop Rocks. Raquel and Perez held the tag titles and admired them. Liv joined them. Perez handed Liv the tag belt as Tessitore said she never lost it. Liv handed Perez the belt back, then stepped between Raquel and Perez and raised their arms.
